Dazzling color and brilliant animation bring the medieval legend of King Arthur to life in The Sword in the Stone. With a forest full of charm, spectacle, and wizardry, Disney's classic tale conjures up delightful entertainment for all ages. England is in the midst of a dark age and without a proper king, Young "Wart", an orphan and squire-in-training, is content with kitchen duties in his foster home--until he drops in on the extraordinary wizard Merlin and his articulate owl, Archimedes. Through three life lessons, Wart learns to set his "sights on the heights", armed with the most powerful forces on earth: intellect, wisdom, and love. When it's time to contest who will be king, Wart must use his newfound knowledge to do what no mighty knight has done before.

Still a Favarite After 60 years!
Nowdays, CGI and 3D computer animation is filling our screens with emersive graphics and quickly devised musicals, but sometimes it still feels flat. The humor and fantasy are lost in social underlines. Disney animated productions used to be well tuned, including humorous well-scripted non-political storylines and fantasy. Sword in the Stone is a fantasy off-shoot of the Arthurian legend in a feature length hand animated classic. Arthur is referred to as The Wart, the evil sorcerous is referred to as Madam Mim and along with a talking owl, we have the magical Merlin, stuck in an era without modern conveniences. I love the lighthearted songs included in the movie and wonder how many were rejected by Walt at a time when he would reject various songs because he felt the did not fit right. Buy this movie for yourselves and your children. ZZZThe quality shines through, even on large modern day 4K TVs, as long as you accept pre-computer animations.

The original is the best!
The 1963 version of The Sword In The Stone can't be improved upon. If you are trying to decide whether to purchase this version or the updated version, I wholeheartedly recommend you purchase the original 1963 version.

Sword in the Stone!
We love this movie! Great for adults and kids. It did not skip once. It was a great price. We had to buy this for our Disney collection. We are a Disney family. The kids love it and my husband can quote parts of it (if not all). Good family movie. There’s nothing to worry about your children seeing something you don’t want them to see. Great buy!Sword in the Stone is a great movie! It’s the story about how King Arthur became a king. Great story!
