StarTech DVI Splitter: Top Performer for Multi-Monitor Needs
As a tech enthusiast always on the hunt for quality products, the StarTech.com DVI Splitter Cable has proven to be an exceptional find. That's why I am eager to share my satisfying experience with this useful tool, which seamlessly mirrors displays and enhances work efficiency. The splitter's primary function, delivering two identical DVI-Digital (24-pin) images from a single source, executed flawlessly with my setup. Worth noting is the 1ft (30cm) DVI-D to 2x DVI-D splitter's effectiveness, providing robust performance while enabling my split-screen monitor function. And for those considering analog signals, it's crucial to note that only DVI-Digital signals are supported – a fact that did not hinder my usage. This splitter cable is not only about functionality; it's also about the quality build. With a built-in 12" cable, the strain on the DVI-Digital source connector is reduced, highlighting the thoughtfulness of design that StarTech.com incorporated. For peak performance and signal reliability, I recommend pairing this with DVIDDMM6 DVI-D cables. For users who have desktop computers possessing a DVI output on their graphic card, this splitter cable is a solid investment. Bear in mind that it might not work as effectively with adapters converting HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB-C to DVI, or with laptop docking stations. And after some trial and error, I discovered that while the maximum resolution was limited to 1920x1200, the device effortlessly supported my multi-screen setup. But what seals the deal for me, as an IT professional, is the lifetime backing StarTech.com provides for this gem of a product. Their 24/5 multi-lingual technical assistance is a real-life savior, ensuring seamless usability for IT professionals.Keep in mind that with this splitter, the same image will be displayed on both monitors - perfect for presentations or workshops where you need identical mirrored displays. While extending displays with different content requires another solution, this is absolutely top-notch for mirroring setups.Overall, the StarTech.com DVI Splitter Cable is well-engineered, highly reliable, and offers excellent value. If you need seamless mirrored displays, this product could be the ideal fit for you. No more hassles, only enhanced productivity!

Alternative Uses
As many said, this is not biderectional. It is meant for one computer and two monitors, but, as an alternate use, I reversed it and hooked up one monitor so that I can access two computers (not at the same time). The only caveat is that only one may be connected at a time. My laptop has HDMI and I had to get an HDMI/DVI adapter. The monitor is only DVI and VGA. My PC is DVI. I cannot have both cables connected at the same time. So yes, I still have to disconnect either PC or laptop in order for the monitor to work. But at least the cable makes it so that I don't have to keep turning my monitor on it's side to reach the connector. It is easier to connect and disconnect each DVI connection when it is at a distance from the monitor.

Save Your Money
I have an older high end video card in my computer that only has DVI outputs. Sometimes I have my computer hooked to a 65" monitor in my living room, but sometimes I want to use the monitor in another room, so TV can be watched in the living room.Though I use a DVI to HDMI adapter, I regularly swap HDMI cables depending on what room I am in. As most people will know, HDMI cable can be very finicky, even with high end ones. I decided to get this adapter so I did not have to swap cables all the time.I plugged the first cable in, for the 65", to the first splitter and it worked fine. I plugged the second cable in, for the second monitor, and turned off the 65" and it did not work. I unplugged the first cable and plugged it into the second splitter and it did not work either. I took the second cable and plugged it into the first splitter and it worked. So, at the end of the day, instead of having a splitter I have a 1 foot DVI extension, with an identicle, but brain dead, Siamese twin splitter attached.

Worked for a while, then appeared to have problems, but it worked again upon later testing. Maybe it went bad, maybe not.
Worked perfect for about a month or so. Then one of the monitors started having problems with pixelation, or pixels that were not displaying properly. Of course, many things could cause this, but removing this splitter cleared it up. We were able to reconfigure our cables without the need for a splitter, so we don't use it anymore. Before I wrote this review, however, I tested the splitter on a different computer and monitor. I tested both outputs and did not have a problem. So, because I cannot consistently reproduce the problem, and thus can say with 100% certainty that this splitter is the problem, I still gave it 4 stars. I'm keeping with my cables in case I need it again.O, this is a DVI-D splitter, so keep that in mind. It may not work with some DVI-I applications. For example, you cannot use a VGA adapter with it.

Good
Quality is fine. Value was fine. Size was not for me so had to return. Performance is unknown.

Read many reviews on this before purchasing
Bought this, not going to continue using it. It cannot split signals well, it either doesn't function or has very digitally grainy video (to the 2nd display, first seems unaffected.) I was going to ask for a refund, but I figured I'd just take the loss, I found a substitute for this that works (so far) perfectly. This splitter, however, can be used as a weapon to defend your home from invaders (seriously hard, do not hit yourself or others with this, it will mess that person up...) ;)The reason i gave it 3 stars is that maybe, just maybe, it was a defective product, based on what the other reviews of this said.
