Great wee gas spanner

This spanner is sturdy enough to tighten a Calor gas connection with ease but thin and lightweight so it doesn't take up much space. I really don't understand the reviews that complain of it being flimsy... its steel and doesn't bend easily. Not entirely sure what levels of torque those people are trying to achieve! It even has a hole in the handle end so you can tie it on to your kit and keep it handy! Fine for the money 😁

This is a simple device that is specifically marketed as being a lightweight version of a genuine Calor product. Purchasers should not be surprised that it is notably thinner than many other aftermarket gas spanners. This one weighs 97g whereas the aftermarket generic that I bought when I commenced caravanning weighs 255g. But... They are functionally equivalent and the thin Calor spanner has no sharp edges, works reliably and is still thick enough to generate more than sufficient torque without resorting to gloves. If you want something reassuringly solid then buy another product - this is a low weight but quality device that does what is needed at less than 40% typical spanner weight. It's explicitly sold as lightweight - don't be concerned (or negatively review it) because it is. Clue is in the name!

Does the job perfectly.

Excellent sturdy spanner for the caravan gas bottle connection.

Spanner measures 36mm across flats. The steel edges have sharp burrs that will cut hands. This means they will have to be cleaned up before use, of course this will remove the plating to protect from rusting. It's very cheaply manufactured but after making safe will just about do the job.

Value for money

The spanner was the correct size but not made of suitable material for the job and opened up actually to over 35mm when I was trying to change to a new gas bottle. Needless to say, Sod’s Law, I’m currently off grid in a Motorhome and don’t have a backup plan 🤦🏻‍♂️!! In case you were wondering, I was indeed trying to undo the connection the correct way (opposite to normal nuts and bolts).
