Solar Powered Cameras Work Fine- See My Honest Review.
These cameras provide a sharp image and video can be seen on any iPad/I phone anywhere possibly android as well. They are easy to install and easy to mount. My main issue is that the batteries will not charge on an overcast day. Also very cold temperatures prevent optimal battery charging. Even with optimal battery charging you can not look at video for an extended period of time due to insufficient battery life. I suppose this is the downside of not having to run wires.I ordered new larger solar cells which I hope will solve the issues mentioned.EditI reduced my rating by one star because I feel:1. These cameras have a charging issue that interferes with use. Could be: A.Size of the solar panel B.Capacity of the battery or C.Ordinary response to overcast days. My cameras are mounted high and I cannot easily retrieve them to bring inside for charging as recommended. Solar powered cameras are convenient but there is a price to be paid for convenience.2 Cloud service is an additional expense. I would prefer to pay more upfront and get cloud service included.2nd EditThe seller contacted me and offered me 4 new solar panels to see if this remedied the issues I noted in my original review. The replacement panels appear to be quite similar to the ones built into the cameras. External panels can be adjusted to give the best possible position to collect sunlight. I did not see any noticeable improvement. However the 8 watt panels I purchased from Amazon made a noticeable improvement.I note that there is memory built into the base so that cloud subscription is not required. I overlooked this.when I wrote my review. If you are thinking of purchasing these cameras just keep in that solar powered camera are not meant for long term viewing which quickly depletes the battery. In view of the seller’s responsiveness, the solution provided by purchasing 8 watt solar panels and the memory provided by the base unit I am restoring my rating to 4 stars. If you are willing to purchase external solar panels and do not anticipate the need for extended viewing, you may be satisfied with these cameras. As I originally wrote, the images are sharp and in addition the range is impressive.Final EditWith the now moderate weather and long hours of sunshine my cameras are working to my complete satisfaction. I believe that the batteries are affected by severe cold. Also overcast days affect the charging as well. This is not a defect of the AOSU cameras but rather a characteristic inherent to all solar powered devices.I particularly like the notification I receive when someone approaches my front door. If you have no need to monitor a site continuously for extended periods I think you will be happy with the AOSU cameras. They are activated by motion, whether a human or an animal such as a raccoon.

A really good product. Easy to setup and use
This was the second AOSU product that I purchased, the first was a doorbell. I was really happy with the quality of that product, so purchased the security cameras. I also really like the fact that I don't have to use any cloud computing, both from a security and cost issue. They are really easy to set up. You'll need to plug the home base into your wired Ethernet, and the configure the cameras. Definitely bring the cameras inside and get them all working right next to the home base. I had to rejoin one and the process takes a lot longer the farther from the home base you are. Once they are all paired, all you need to do is mount them. The included screws are fine for mounting to something wooden, like a fence or the side of a house. Have a drill handy. The audio and microphones are surprisingly good on these cameras. At least I was surprised. The AOSU app is pretty easy to use. I use the android version. You can see the camera feeds live as well as any alerted events. You can also restrict the notifications for "human shaped objects", and set the distance that the camera will alert on. This is really important for the doorbell which I run off of the internal battery. Setting the distance short and I can get 5+ months out of the battery. However if I set the distance as long as it can go, it only lasts two weeks. I am not expecting this to be an issue with the security cameras since the solar should keep them charged. The final thing that was a plus is that I can shut the audio recording off. This way I can put it near a patio and folks don't have to worry about their conversations being recorded.Overall, a really good purchase. I'd buy again.

Quality product and superlative customer service!
I live in a pretty safe neighborhood, but I thought it wise to hedge myself by installing a few simple cameras on my home - you just never know. I did some research and I found the AOSU video doorbell was a good choice to get started (high-resolution video, glass lens and no monthly fees). I'll review the doorbell on its product page later. I was happy with the doorbell after a few days of use, so I decided to add two additional cameras to my setup.I saw these solar cameras in AOSU's Amazon store and I ordered right away. I like the wireless installation and the integrated solar panels on each camera. I also like that I can easily add these cameras to the same app I use for the doorbell. Before installation, I set up the base station and added the cameras to my network. You will need to install a firmware update before adding the cameras or they will not register as being on. The update is a simple tap within the app and took only about a minute to complete.I installed the first of two cameras on the front of my home once initialized. Installation was as easy as it gets and it was up and running straight away. I had to put off the installation of the second camera, which I'll get to in a moment. It's somewhat early to fully review these cameras as I've only had one of two operational for about a week now. I will however share my experience so far.Setup: Straight-forward and easy - no tech knowledge is necessary - just follow the prompts within the app and you're good to go.The AOSU app: I've found the app to be intuitive and easy to use. The live video loads quickly and so far I've not had any glitches. The app is comprehensive for setting up. I like this app quite a bit for its simplicity and seamless operation. Once your cameras are installed, explore the video/motion settings within the app and tweak your system to perfection.Video quality: I am pleased with the video quality so far. If you have ample lighting in the areas the cameras will cover, the color night vision is good to have. In the event someone needs to be identified at night, clothing/vehicle colors can be important.Motion detection and alerts: When I first installed the front camera, I was getting countless alerts of passing vehicles and pedestrians. I've since adjusted the app's sensitivity and detection zone; currently, I only get alerts when I am coming and going on my driveway - no vandals or intruders to report thankfully.Siren and spotlight: I haven't armed my front camera with this feature to avoid potential false alarms; I do plan however to arm my rear camera as no one should be in that area at night.AOSU Customer Service: When planning my 2 camera installation, I discovered that my rear-facing camera would be affixed onto a north-facing wall, which might not receive adequate sunlight for the camera's integrated solar panel. I reached out to AOSU Customer Service to find out if a remote solar panel could be plugged into the north wall camera to provide proper charging. Lynette promptly responded to my query and arranged a very affordable solution for me. Now that I have everything to get my 2nd camera up and running, I just need a warm day to do the installation! Thanks Lynette - super customer service!Overall I am very happy with my purchase and I am anxious to get the second camera installed to take full advantage of this security system. I highly recommend this camera set and the AOSU brand.
