Good NAS solution

Works fine so far. Set it up with Pi 5 and OpenmediaVault

unreliable product - controller resets

This board has serious reliability issues with controller resets. After i encoutered them i found multiple cases of the same issue online, including customers receiving a replacement & still encountering the same issue. This item should be removed from sale or the 2 drive write limitation clearly documented. neeldless to say, had i known of these issues, i would not have ordered it.details..when 3 or 4 drivers are written to at the same time, random controller resets occur. This causes writes to fail at best and damage to the array or complete file system failure at worst.Raid configurations of 3 drivers or more drives are just unreliable, but standalone drives written to individually seem to be fine.i have tried multiple RPI's, multiple PSU's (offical RPI 5A & 100W PD, to name a few). multiple FPC cables, my own USBC PD uplink cable & multiple brands/size of NVME. I even tried throttling data uploads at the client to reduce load on the pcie switch, but in all cases the random controller resets still occur after some period of writing data to 3 or 4 drives at the same time.in conclusion, this product is not fit for the advertised purpose & will be returned.

Great for nvme pi project

I used this NVMe storage HAT to build a personal NAS project, and after some hands-on use, I can confidently say it’s a great piece of hardware. It’s performed reliably and efficiently, making it a solid choice for anyone looking to create a compact and high-speed NVMe-based storage setup

The Wiki setup didn't work for me.

I followed the Wiki to attempt to setup this board with 4x 2Tb Nvme ssd's however I fell flat when trying to format the drives individually. The line in the Wiki seems to be incorrect causing me no end of headaches. However. There was light at the end of the tunnel in the gause of Open Media Vault. This is software used to create a NAS drive out of a raspberry Pi which is exactly what I wanted. Not only did Open Media Vault allow me to find and format the drives but it also allowed me to create Raid array out fo them making them appear as one drive. Overall I'm impressed with this board but it loses a star for the frustrating rabbit hole the Wiki sent me down.

Works as advertised

There are some bad reviews but this works as described for me, I use a PD100W power supply & have a small fan pointed at the enclosure, 4x 2TB NVME Drives, Openmediavolt & Share using SMB, drives mounted in windows. I have downloaded 1000's of .Rar (1-2GB) and extracted while transfering files between drives. No errors or disconnected It does what its meant to do. I dont use raid so I cant comment on that.

Excellent Nvme expansion board for a Raspberry Pi 5 Server

Just the right choice for my project to develop a multi-boot Raspberry Pi 5 SBC server with multi-boot functionality.

Board has dropouts if more than two drives are used at once.

The board + case option with the PCB style USB-C power connector between the board and the Pi 5 has a serious known fault where if more then two M.2a drives are used at once the controller suffers power dropouts and resets. If you fill 4 nvme slots and try to use raid 5, for example, it will fail after 10 seconds or so, and take 30 seconds to come back on line. Using each drive independently is Ok for a while, but again if 3 or 4 drives are accessed at once it will reset.Apparently - won't know til I get the replacement - the newer board with the cable power connector increases the voltage to overcome this, at the expense of increasing the heat of the nvme drives.

Brilliant kit!

Bought this a while ago to build a media centre, I've finaly gotten around to making it, 4 X 4tb and 2 x 2tb NVME drives, should have enough space!
