Well Built and Capable
The media could not be loaded. The TOMLOV DM9 Max Digital Microscope arrived well-packaged and was straightforward to set up. Its construction feels solid, with a sturdy base that provides stability. The base plate is spacious enough for most small to medium-sized projects. I primarily use it for electronics repair and diagnosis, and it suits this purpose well. The additional lights, while potentially useful in other applications, caused excessive glare on the glossy surfaces I work with. However, I did find them helpful for inspection, as they provided backlighting to check for corrosion in motherboard vias and to determine if components were sitting properly.Powering the microscope is simple—it has an internal battery that can be charged or powered via USB-C. I was able to use it seamlessly with a power bank, and I’ve had no issues with battery life. The microscope provides ample height, allowing for easy tool use while maintaining good magnification. The 10.1-inch screen delivers a sharp, clear image, and the ability to record directly to an SD card makes the unit self-contained. Though the included SD card is unbranded, its quality is good. I also appreciated the tilting screen, which allowed me to work comfortably without straining or stooping. The screen’s viewing angles are impressive, further enhancing the comfort and usability. The HDMI output delivers excellent quality, and I was able to capture footage using OBS. It would be even better if the internal screen could be used simultaneously with the HDMI output. Additionally, a fitted silicone cover for the base would be a useful accessory for my specific needs.Overall, this microscope offers an excellent solution for both hobbyists and professionals at a highly affordable price point.

A very useful coin examination tool
I delayed sending in a review of this device so I could give a review based on six weeks experience of use. This USB Microscope has completely changed my way of examining coins and has replaced coin examination using my jewellers loupe and magnifying glass. The height adjusting bracket moves the microscope high enough to photograph or video coins up to the size of a U.K. predecimal penny, and low enough to magnify the very smallest detail on a coin. The initial magnification depends upon the height of the microscope from the coin being examined and at my usual working height of the microscope of 10 cm the initial magnification is 13x, the resultant image can be magnified further using the remote control. The remote control has 9 settings shown as x2 to x18 on the screen in Increments of 2. The x2 setting increases the initial magnification at 10cm height +1 so an initial 13x magnification becomes 14x magnification, the next setting, x4 increases the magnification +1 to 15x, and so on.The x2 to x18 screen magnification setting is misleading as it varies according to the height of the microscope from the object being magnified . For example at height of 10cm, the x2 screen setting, the original object magnification doesn’t double, it marginally increases. Using the 10cm height setting, the screen x18 setting gives a magnification of 22x ( the initial 13x plus 9 incremental remote control presses). The initial magnification and increments for each increase press on the remote control will be different for different height settings and the closer the microscope to the object, the greater the initial and maximum magnifications will be.Videos and photos taken using the USB microscope can be stored on the 32gb micro SD card which is housed in the frame of the monitor. The monitor unit has HDMI connectivity and standard USB connection to external devices.I have found the quality of the images on the inbuilt monitor is adequate for my purposes and I do not need to project the images to an external monitor. On microscope switch on , when connected to a computer, three functions can be set. The first, Mass Storage, enables the micro SD card can be set as an external drive to the computer and all photos and videos stored on the SD card are controlled using the computer. The second function is to use the USB microscope as an external camera, images from the microscope are viewed on the PC monitor but magnification functions are controlled by the microscope. The third function and the one I use most is the charge mode which charges up the rechargeable battery in the monitor frame from the connected computer and enables the USB microscope to be used on its own connected, or unconnected from the computer.Photos and videos can be taken using the remote control or by pressing the OK button on the monitor. This is an easy device to use intuitively but studying the supplied manual will help to discover maximum functionality.I think this device is good value for money and although it may be lacking additional functions provided by a higher priced USB microscope, it is perfectly adequate for my purposes and I am very pleased with it.

TomLov microscope
I ordered this yesterday (16/07/24) and not a Prime member and received it today (17/07/24). As a child I had a bad experience with a poor quality one in the 80's. I am blown away with the quality of this microscope. It is exceptionally good value for money easy to setup. The optics are outstanding for what I am using it for mainly for geology samples. Even a bundle of wire and led's look amazing. Thank you

Quality is ok
I expected magnification to be much higher but its not that great. But I suppose it's a good starter microscope, good value for money.

Simple magnifying instrument with limited magnification
Very good value instrument, as long as you appreciate that it is not a microscope in the scientific sense. It is more of a macroscope and I have measured the magnification range using a simple rule and the unit gives optical magnifications from 4X to 27X on-screen, depending on the distance between the object and the lens. The magnification can be incrementally increased digitally to achieve a maximum on-screen magnification of 47X. The images can be captured as JPEG files, so of course these can be further enlarged digitally but resolution will not be changed, limiting the practical use of digitally enlarging. On the whole very impressive for the price with two adjustable illuminating lamps and a built in array of adjustable intensity LED lights in a ring around the lens. A big plus is the simple remote control, allowing image capture without touching the monitor, since touching the controls on the monitor shakes the image as the unit is not very rigid on it's stand. It suits my purpose, but I cannot imagine how the claim of magnification up to 1500X can be substantiated.
