It’s surprisingly tough and cuts through nettles. Struggles a bit with dence grass.

Q: What use is a battery powered strimmer that costs double the price to buy the battery and charger for????

the same battery fits all the tools that Einhell make so if you already have a battery then no need to by another .they recharge very quickly if you have more than one you wont use the charge up before the other has charged

Q: is there an alternative harder wearing blade as the ones supplied do not cover 6 inches without snapping and needing changed?

Yes, these type of blades do need getting used to - especially if you have been using a 'wire' strimmer. They are more fragile and break quite easily.I have not had mine for long, but I find that setting the 'plant guard' carefully, near to the end of the blade, helps to preserve the life.Ultimately, I think that this strimmer will 'eat' quite a few blades though!
