Incredibly easy to fly, will teach you to become an RC Pilot
The Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m RTF Basic RC airplane is probably the best trainer in existence in my opinion. The wings can remove but you have to disconnect the ailerons, flaps, and lights if you add them (it fits in the trunk of my Honda without removing them - I prefer to transport it in one piece. This is more than a great foam flier; it is also impressively integrated with the transmitter and the receiver is connected to a complex multi-axis gyro that will keep your plane in the air during moments you are not able to do so. I recently retired and my primary goal was to find an RC airplane I enjoyed flying every day. While I had hoped to return to the balsa planes I built 40 years ago, I find I am very satisfied with hassle-free electric power that starts up immediately. The CCS2 is the perfect first airplane. I flew mine 3-4 times every day (unless it was raining) for 18 months with only one crash due to a part that eventually failed on the airplane. I replaced the part, and prop and it darted back into the sky…. The plane is extremely forgiving with pilot input and is also very easy to repair. You may want to invest in a hot glue gun and some barbeque skewers for major repairs.SAFE allows you the joy of flying while reducing the fear of crashing to almost zero. For the first year, I flew exclusively in SAFE mode and then started flying in Intermediate mode when things seemed calm, hurriedly switching back to SAFE as I got into trouble. Eventually, I learned how to fly without any gyros or autopilot and the plane flies wonderfully in advanced mode. It can do loops, rolls, stalls, inverted flight. The plane is probably capable of many more stunts but often I am not an advanced pilot. The CCS2 is very easy to assemble with no experience needed. I purchased a new set of small screw drivers (0, 1, 2, & maybe 3) and a mini needle nose that proved quite helpful. I would advise not installing the flaps until you are comfortable with the plane (I waited one year from purchase date). All you need to buy is a single servo for the flaps already exists in the RTF transmitter. At some point I added a strip of lights powered by the RC battery and flight control system. I added a switch so I can simply turn them on as starts to get dark. The transmitter shows you the state of charge for the airplane battery via 4 green LEDS. With all 4 green you have 100%, when it drops to 3 you have 75%... After the final LED the transmitter emits a sound and the motor turns on/off to squeeze remaining battery power but somehow it still has enough energy to fly along if needed. Surprisingly, advanced RC planes and systems use a simple timer which is not connected to the state of charge although telemetry is now possible. It is surprising this comes for free on the Carbon Cub 2S.I recommend the simulator as well. It is quite realistic and when the rain is falling that is how I get into the air. Enjoy!

Good buy, easy for beginner to learn and sporty enough for intermediate fun
40 years ago I taught myself to fly RC with a Great Planes PT20 with some hard knocks and lots of repairs. I bought this Carbon Cub for my 12 year old son and he was able to immediately take off, fly, and land himself. The self correcting capabilities of this plane work very well. Turn them off with the switch and it’s pretty sporty. Lots of power to climb out almost vertical with 3s lipo. Inverted flight no problem. Fun little plane.

OMG! This is the funnest RC Airplane I've ever owned. Great for beginners!
I am getting back into RC Airplanes and haven't flown since I was a teenager. I'm retired now. That should give you an idea of how long I've been away.I was excited to hear about this new technology that stabilizes the planes. It's called SAFE. SAFE is really amazing. It keeps the plane stable in the attitude and direction you want to fly. It doesn't fly the airplane. So it's not foolproof. As long as you have a general idea of how an airplane works and you have a good open area, you're going to be pleasantly surprised how easy this airplane is to fly.SAFE has 3 levels, Easy, Advanced, and Off. Off being you're on you're on your own, no stabilization. What is cool about SAFE is that it doesn't take anything away from the flying experience. I was surprised how quickly the muscle memory comes back from flying these models but even the best pilot can become disoriented, especially if you get the airplane directly overhead. The cool thing is if you let go of the controls, the plane will simply level out and continue to fly in the direction it was going. This is awesome if you lose track of it's orientation, especially at a distance. If you have a large open area, you literally don't have to have any experience to get started. Now the plane itself:- High quality, and super durable- Super Stable (SAFE enabled)- Super easy to fly, very forgiving and predictable- Slow and easy landings (big floaty wings)- Big wheels for bouncy but soft landings- Takes off in about 10 ft- Looks amazing out of the box!Con's:- The wing stays attached. It can be removed but the wing struts prevent it from being like a lot of RC Planes where the wing pops on and off.Overall. Amazing airplane! Crazy fun for anyone. Don't hesitate. This airplane is super fun for the experienced or novice pilot. It's also doable for the new pilots if you have enough space.

Damaged Product
Received what appeared to be a previously opened box. Once open I noticed a small dent/ding in the wing which I pictured. Didn't appear significant so I wasn't too worried. On the first flight it started off well but after flying for 2-3 minutes I had no control of the elevator or rudder and hit a bush trying to land it. No significant damage. The two servos were not responding to the transmitter so instead of taking the time to return it and getting another I bought two new servos as I wanted to fly it with my grandson before he left. Once installed none (throttle and ailerons) of the functions worked even after "bind" procedure so I contacted Amazon and set up return. Took 9 days to go from Florida to Kentucky!!! (I think it went via ups horse and carriage). Amazon has had it two days and still hasn't given credit although right on the Amazon order page it says I get refund credit upon receipt of the product credited within 2-4 hrs. Called Amazon several times and now they tell me it takes 14 days even though they have had the product back for two days!

A beginner bargain
I've never flown an RC plane and was able to build and fly this without crashing. Assembly was easy and first flight was a breeze. Only required slight trim adjustments to fly straight and level. In beginner mode I'm not sure you can crash this plane unless you fly it into a tree. This looks more realistic in the air than the Arrows Bigfoot. 10 flights now!
