Product Description Dazzling color and brilliant animation bring the medieval legend of King Arthur to life in The Sword in the Stone. With a forest full of charm, spectacle, and wizardry, Disney's classic tale conjures up delightful entertainment for all ages. England is in the midst of a dark age and without a proper king, Young "Wart", an orphan and squire-in-training, is content with kitchen duties in his foster home--until he drops in on the extraordinary wizard Merlin and his articulate owl, Archimedes. Through three life lessons, Wart learns to set his "sights on the heights", armed with the most powerful forces on earth: intellect, wisdom, and love. When it's time to contest who will be king, Wart must use his newfound knowledge to do what no mighty knight has done before. From .co.uk As far as Disney is concerned, The Sword in the Stone was a portent of things to come, with slapstick upstaging storytelling, and cultural in-jokes substituting for wonder. Based on TH White's beloved novel The Once and Future King, this Disney version chronicles King Arthur's boyish adventures. There's much to enjoy here as coach Merlin the magician shows the young Arthur, nicknamed Wart, the skills that will help him become the future ruler of the Britons. The transformation sequences, where the boy is turned into a fish, a bird and a squirrel are vintage Disney. The oft-repeated scene of Merlin battling it out with mean old Madame Mim still is worth a few chuckles, but it underlines the problem with most of the film--most of its scenes are only played for laughs. References by Merlin to television and other items of modern life also mar the generally innocuous landscape. Younger children will like it, while older kids will find it slower compared with recent Disney films. --Keith Simanton

Another underrated Disney Classic.
The Sword In The Stone is a very charming and relaxing movie to watch. Just like any Disney feature animation, you want humour, emotions, songs and a happy ending and this movie fulfills all of these and more. Most of the humour comes from Sir Ektor(voice of Sebastian Cabot) and Archimedes (voice of Junius Matthews), but Merlin (voice of Karl Swenson) had some truly delicious lines. I just love Archimedes, he is absolutely hilarious, and still manages to be likable, despite being very grumpy. The animation was ver classic looking and extremely lovely, and the scenes when Wart (voice of Ricky Sorenson) was turned into various animals (a fish, squirrel and bird) were truly entertaining. The duel between Merlin and Madam Mim was the highlight of the film for me. I remember seeing that scene years ago and I absolutely loved it. The songs by the Sherman Brothers, while not particularly memorable, were very pleasant to listen to, as was the incidental music by the composer of the Jungle Book, George Bruns. All in all, a truly enjoyable movie, that is definitely underrated. Highly recommended to watch with the family.

Well worth getting
Loved this film as a child and have wanted to get it on DVD for ages. It didn't disappoint, my husband and I found it as good and as funny as we remembered. It has some of the most hilarious characters and witty lines of any Disney film, in my opinion. The colour looks like it has been brightened up for DVD but other than that the quality of the animation looks untouched, it certainly doesn't look overly remastered and it has the excellent hand-drawn quality of the great old Disney films. The one downside is that there wasn't a widescreen option so it looks a bit square and boxy on a big modern TV, but you stop noticing that after about 30 seconds and just enjoy the film. There are also a couple of little extra animations; a Goofy-style one about knights and a Mickey one, possibly others that we haven't watched yet.Overall, if you liked this as a kid you will still love it, and if you've never seen it before, splash out your £5 and see it!

A true classic!
The Sword in the Stone is a true Disney classic based on the story of King Arthur. Some memorable characters and catchy tunes make this a favourite for everyone. It’s been a favourite of mine since I was a little girl, joining the likes of Basil the Great Mouse Detective and Robin Hood.Swift delivery made it all the better to gift it to my 6 year old who also loves it 👍🏻

One of my favourite Disney films
Sword in the Stone has got to be one of my favourite -if not my favourite- Disney films.I have watched it when I was little and I loved it then. I bought this because I was sick of the quality of my video and wanted to watch this pile of awesome in better quality. I have not watched it yet but I know that I will enjoy it as much as I did when I was little. It s fun for all the family and I do no get bored of the story even as an adult. In fact I find it more hilarious and enjoyable now that I actually understand what is going on. It is hilarious and entertaining.Recommended!
