Had my doubts
Therabody does it again. Solid quality product. It gets very cold. It gets hot. Has three speeds on the massage. Both needs were inflamed from working all day and one session on each knee brought them right back. Highly recommend

It’s a good novel idea. A towl or plain ice just works way better. It doesn’t get too hott nor cold, it won’t help with aches or pains. Looks futuristic though.

4 Star
Great device! It has helped my recovery immensely. Do prepare to get only two hot/cold cycles per charge. The battery also takes unusually long to recharge.

Two Stars are for the Craftmanship
Edited after two more days of use:1. I found I just spent more time charging then actually using the device.2. Exhausts of the fans blow at my shin and thigh/stomach, which is quite annoying.3. I was wondering why the fans keep going when I was using heat only. I have used other heating devices and none of them had fans. My best guess is it gets really hot and they had to find a way to dissipate excessive heat. I bought a similar device from another brand and it has the fan off while heat is being used, which makes a lot more sense In terms of energy efficiency. You can just lower the voltage applied to the module then problem solve. No extra energy wasted.I love Therabody in general. I have two theragun pro and a mini and that was why I trust the brand. Don't get me wrong quality of this knee wrap is top notch. I don't think any other brands could beat it. Let me talk about the pros and cons:Pros- Quality is very good. It does not feel cheap whatsoever.- It gets cold or hot very fast, like within 10s under room temperature and 30s from one way to anotherCons- False advertisement about bluetooth connectivity. The box has a bluetooth logo but it does not have any bluetooth features.- The battery drains really really fast. Two cycles of cold or hot then you will need to charge, and it takes more than two hours to recharge. Using contrast drains a lot faster, so it is impossible to do contrast a knee after another.- What drives the temperature change are the four metal plates (underneath each fan) touching your skin, and it HAS to be direct skin contact. The first time I used it I was wearing a compression tight and I could hardly feel any differences.- The metal plates are the ONLY thing that get cold or hot, which means the cover area is very limited. You don't get temperature change on the knee cap, or anywhere outside of the plates.- Behind the plates are basically a thing called peltier. Positive/negative voltage applied on the peltier modules drives temperature change. When I was in college I got these modules from eBay and built a tiny air conditioner and it costed me less than $100. $400 for this 'new technology' does not make any sense to me, unless it worked.- The instruction says you can either have your knee straight or bended but I found it to be more efficient if I had my knee in 90 deg. The straps are a hit or miss and the fit is clunky. Bending your knee would give the best fit, which means the metal plates are entirely touching your skin. Having the leg straight would make the plates somewhat separating from skin.- Since the plates are metal, pressing them down on your shin is not the best feeling. Ironically you need pressure on it on your skin to get the most out of it, it just feels bad.A couple suggestions for Therabody:1. Make it usable when it is charging, or add a plug so it can be charged while being used. It is not designed to be used while in motion anyway. The battery gives an advantage of mobilization but it limits the using time.2. Add a heat conducting ring of gel pack/copper wires between the plates and skin. That may not offer the lowest temperature, but it would give the most uniform fit and comfort.3. Put in longer straps. The current ones feel awful. At the end, I would not recommend this product. As a veteran mechanical engineer this is still in the early phase. I can see the success in a generation or two but definitely not now.

Longterm review
I have been using this knee wrap for the better part of 3 months now and I can tell you that it has some really positive aspects, but of course some negative ones as well. Here is what I really liked about it:--Heats up/cools down really fast...you can feel instantly when you change temp or when it starts up--Its HOT and COLD, without changing...so you can use both heat therapy and cold therapy without switching devices...heck, without even taking this off--Highly portable...you arent just tethered to the wall, and in fact you can even use this while driving a car on a road trip--Easy controls--Excellent customer service...I had an issue with my first one of these and they were very helpful to assist me in returning it, and they sent a replacement out almost immediatelyHere is what I only sort of liked about it:--Battery is easy to put in--Material is quite soft, except where the metal has to be touching your skin--Great travel case for the deviceHere is what I don't like about it:--Its noisy. I get that the fans run the cooling/heating elements but the fans are pretty noisy. If I use this on a road trip, I have to have the radio up pretty loud, or other occupants in the car get pretty bothered by the sound.--Straps could be better designed...they are a little short for my thigh, but like I have mentioned: I am always seated while using this. If one were to try to walk around with it on (really?) I would imagine the device would fall off.--Terrible battery life. I get that it takes a lot of power to run this thing through its heat/cold cycle, but I can only get two 15 minute runs out of it before the battery is dead. On a road trip with other people, trying to charge a battery by stealing someone else's USB access is a sin, so this a huge deal.--Which brings me to: Long charge time. I have tried using this at a partial charge and it just poops out after a few minutes...battery has to be brought up to full to be worthwhile and in a car, its hours of charging.--Price. Let me preface this statement by saying that as a Vine member, I have a unique deal with the pricing, but the $400 price tag is enough to make most people pass this by without looking twice.-so...its a 3-1/2 out of 5 stars...its an amazing piece of tech that you can use while not being tethered to a wall/cord which I cant find anywhere else out there. The battery is pretty pitiful, but I feel like that could probably be improved without having to redo the entire device, so I dont think its a deal killer (I'd subtract 1 star for that). The fit is really only problematic for specific body types and I get that TheraGun needs to make a device for the widest variety of body shapes, and I think this actually fits the bill...if its too tight on thick thighs, that's not really a design flaw...its just that those thick thighs fall outside the average. (1/2 star subtracted for that)The idea that I can spend an entire day mountain biking and then get in the car to drive home and immediately start ice/heat on my knee is an absolute dream.(1/2 star added back onThe idea that that same dream has to cost $400 is an absolute dream killer. (I'd take off more stars, but I also get that if one need this type of therapy, it comes at a heavy cost...so 1/2 star taken off)

Worth the money!
I bought two of these as I've hand lifelong knee pain that tends to linger for a couple of days after strenuous activity. I've tried heating wraps and ice packs for years but couldn't ever find the right balance. The alternating heat, cold patterns with the vibrations allow my knees to feel rested and good as new after about 15 minutes post-exercise. As a result, I can recover quicker and exercise more frequently throughout the week. These are absolutely worth the money and a nice treat after a long workout.

Buyer Beware
Mine cam clearly used, unwrapped and thrown in the original box and the middle strap was missing.
