Worked perfectly.
I used this for blocking light coming from a skylight, and it works perfectly. No light comes through, and it is easy to cut to size.

Great overall, but make preparations
This is the second brand of similar blackout curtains I've used, and overall this is great. It's a large sheet of plastic, silver on one side to reflect light out and black with a grid pattern on the other (which is great because you can cut straight without using a ruler). It's not dissimilar from a thin table mat. It comes with literally every single thing you need: a cutting tool, a pen, a measuring tool, suction cups, velcro buttons, detailed instructions. Great thought taken in that regard. Two things are worth noting though: you may want to air out the plastic for a while before starting the process. It's dyed and has a heavy ink odor that isn't too pleasant. Secondly, it's important to measure carefully before cutting. On all I've applied, I did it the fast way, just measured it out by eye, cut it and added it to the frame. It works, but you get the best (and best looking) blackout results if you leave a little more material than you think, so there's no lightbleed right at the edges. Actually adding them up on the window is quite fast: just press the velcro buttons and suction cups up, and either add the corresponding velcro buttons on the sheet itself or attach the velcro carefully together and then press the sheet up against it. Takes minutes, and even when I rushed it, the results are very good, blocking out 96% of light. But again, if you really take your time, plan it out and follow the instructions, it can probably look neater and block out 99% of light. Perhaps best of all, with a little material removed from the window handle, you can still easily open the window without any problems. If I ever consider doing this again more neatly, this is definitely the brand I'll consider first, but I would have to air them out for a while before getting started.

Easy to install
Easy to install. They came with a tape measure, marking pen, and cutting tool. 100% light blocking. I have this in the room that receives the direct afternoon sun. It keeps the room cool and blocks the light. My grandbaby sleeps so much better for his afternoon nap!

Hook and loop inadequate
The kit could use more white patches (to be used on the window frame.)It comes with plenty of the black "velcro" patches for the panel, but the system would be better off with strips or an entire line to seal off the entirety of the frame. In my photo you can see the light pouring through the gaps. I cannot use the suction method because there is a screen covering the window.Where the fold creases are in the material, tiny holes have already started to form-where the light isn't coming through yet but it is noticeable when looking directly at it.It's helping with the brutal sunlight as my window is bombarded with the sunset, but 100% blackout was not easily achieved. I've resorted to taping around the sides of the material with electrical tape but the hold isn't very good as I can't use stronger tape without risking the paint.

Will purchase again
I purchased the black/silver product. The package comes with absolutely everything needed to install, with clear directions. I used the Velcro attachments; they recommend putting those in place and allowing an hour before proceeding. The material was lighter weight than expected, which was very desirable for my needs. Totally opaque, easy to cut (I used scissors instead of the cutter they included). After the 'hook' half of the Velcro was in place (that half is white), I placed the 'loop' half on top (that half is black), but left the clear plastic backing on the loop side. When attaching the material to the row of Velcro dots across the top of the window, I marked the middle of the material and started at the center. I peeled off the backing on the loop side, one at a time, and pressed the material into place. The loop dots have a very, very strong adhesive. I pulled the material taut as I worked my way across the window and it worked perfectly. I was pleased to discover that the loop side of the Velcro is slightly larger than the hook side, so placement is a little forgiving.Highly recommended cutting the material oversized, as is suggested in the instructions. This window faces south and we have been experiencing 100-108 F temperatures in a heat wave. I could feel an improvement and it doesn't seem like the AC is working as hard to cool the house.I did a second window just to prevent glare behind the TV. This window already had a spring-loaded tension curtain rod behind the blinds. For this window I simply cut the material long enough to drape over the bar without using any Velcro or suction cups. Worked perfectly. As for the ease of using this, I am a 70+ year-old woman and found it straightforward and simple.I would purchase this product again, and probably will.

It sure does work!
This product was fairly easy to install and it blocks ALL the outside light. For your health it's important to sleep in total darkness, just as our ancestors did. No more street lights or cars in the parking lot for me. I love it.
