The Samsung INR21700-50E cell is rated with a max charge voltage of 4.2V with a charge profile CC/CV. We suggested the GVB-8-Li-54.2V-WP.

Q: Is there a 54.6v model?

Yes, the GVB-8-Li-54.2V-WP is the version for a 13S Li-ion with a max charge voltage of 54.6V (13S per 4.2V per cell). Genasun recommends charging the Li cells with a lower voltage ~4.17V in order to minimize stress on the cells without sacrificing significant State of Charge (SOC) and improving the performance and longevity of the battery. For a 13S, the GVB-8-Li-54.2V-WP is programmed with a CC/CV charge profile and charge voltage of 54.2V (13x 4.17V).

Q: What happens if the input goes higher then 8a? For example like a battery connected to the input.

If the current input is higher than 8 A, the GVB-8-WP will go into a current limiting mode, operating slightly above their rated ability. This is designed as a safety feature and is not intended for prolonged use. Extended time spent in default current limiting mode will cause the premature failure of the charge controller, voiding the warranty. We do not suggest using a battery as an input source because there is no control of the max. current that will go through the controller.

Q: Is there a way to limit amps out? or does the solar determine that?

No, the only connections are for a battery and a solar panel. If you have an approx. output amp that you are looking for you can select an appropriate size solar panel. With a 100w. solar panel you can expect about 2.0 amps of charging in the best of solar charging conditions.

Best Solar Charger there is for Solar-E-Bikes.

I am still working out the best way to mount the panels, but so far so good.A Genasun controller is the best and easiest way to add solar to an e-Bike.You must get the correct Genasun with the matching voltage for your battery size and type, it cannot be changed. The controller will electronically change whatever voltage and amps it recieves from the solar panel, or wind turbine. It will then output what the battery needs to charge.
