Awesome product

I initially had my doubts if these sensors would work. I have an older Stanley Vemco garage door opener that is late 90s vintage. When it started acting up and the door wouldn't shut as if the sensors had an obstruction, I telephoned a garage repair company. They told me they knew of no sensors for these old Stanley openers. I found these sensors by Google searches. Read these reviews and thought I would try them for forty bucks. Today I installed them and they work awesome!! They were very easy to install and are made here in the USA. I highly recommend them!!

Saved a lot of money by replacing my own garage sensors

One of my original garage sensors stopped working, so I got this one.It was different looking than my original sensor but it said "Universal" so I took a chance. After installing and aligning this new set, my garage door works again. The only thing, and it is not the fault of this product, is that the mounting bracket is different than the one I had. It did require some refitting. But well worth it since I avoided having a garage repair person come out and probably charge me hundreds of dollars!

It really worked for our old Stanley!

We just moved into a house with an old Stanley garage door. You had to hold the button on the wall continuously in, in order to get the door to shut, and the door wouldn't shut when using the remote. We didn't have the money for repair or a new garage door, so with winter coming, I thought we have nothing to loose. The instructions were not super clear, but only because I am a novice at this, the other reviewers here helped immensely. So hopefully this will help some one hesitant to try. When the units arrived, they looked exactly the same except one unit has two colored wire loops protruding from the bottom. The instructions said for a Stanley, cut the black wire, I was nervous about cutting a perfectly good wire but did it anyway. The unit with the black and yellow wire loops are the main sensor unit. My old sensor unit had two wires going into the unit and soldered directly to the little circuit board. I cut both of these wires. One wire had a black side and white side to it, I split these down the middle and attached the white side to the screw of the new sensor marked + and the black side to the screw marked -. The other wire had no colored markings at all, it was all grey, but the instructions said polarity doesn't matter, so I split that down the middle, stripped off the plastic and attached one end to the + screw and the other end to the - screw. Now onto the other sensor. This had a single wire (again with one black side and one white side), going into the little box. I clipped this off with a wire cutter, stripped off the plastic and split it down the middle. Just to be consistent, I attached the white side to the + screw and the black side to the - screw. As soon as I got them into position, I could see that one sensor had a steady red light and one had a blinking red light. I just lined them up so that both had steady red lights and voila! It worked great! YAY! We saved a lot of money. Don't be afraid to try this, I run from wiring but this job just took about 15 min and a lot of reading of these reviews prior to figure out how to do this. Hope this helps someone else.

Ordered for Moore-O-Matic

Four rather than 5 stars because of the poor instructions concerning the Moore-O-Matic. I carefully read all the reviews on here before ordering and anticipated some problems because of what I'd read. However this unit was the closest thing to what I could find so I ordered it.Yes, the other reviewers were correct in that the instructions are totally inadequate for the Moore-O-Matic. But as others stated, you simply put the 2 positives together and the 2 negatives together from the 4 terminal MOM to the 2 terminal Digi. Where I made my mistake was not completely reading thru the instructions before starting. The instructions stated to cut the black wire on the Digi for the MOM replacement. I did and the unit didn't work. I went back and read more reviews which said to cut the yellow lead. Re-reading the instructions, I found there are 2 sets of instructions for the MOM and I followed the wrong set. So I cut the yellow wire and respliced the black wire and it has worked flawlessly since. One other thing. The old mounts do not work with the Digi and you have to use the supplied mounts. In my case that meant drilling 4 holes in a concrete block wall, then using plastic anchors and different screws. Since I am well equipped with drills, bits, anchors, and screws, this was not a problem for me....but it might be for others.

Worked like a charm thanks to other reviews

I was using this device to replace yellow Moore-O-Matic sensors. I agree with other reviewers that the instructions are totally inadequate if you are replacing sensors for a Moore-O-Matic. The receiver on the old sensor has four wires, the new unit only two; and the instructions mention nothing about this. Another reviewer said that you needed to hook both positives of the old receiver (one labeled "to emitter," the other labeled "to operator") to the single positive of the Digi-Code receiver and both negatives from the old reciever to the single negative of the Digi-Code receiver (You also need to cut the yellow wire on the back of the new receiver as it says in the Digi-Code instructions). He said you needed to switch the position of the emitter and receiver, but I found that was not necessary and wonder if the reviewer had some location specific issues (my doors face south and do not get any direct sun). Once the wires were attached, the doors worked perfectly. When the sensor beam was broken, the doors stopped and reversed direction (another Moore-O-Matic replacement review stated that nothing happened when he broke the beam, but his doors would open and close, which was all he cared about). When the sensor beam was unbroken, the doors shut without a problem. Thanks to the other reviewers, the hardest part of this was changing out the brackets and the whole thing took less than 30 minutes. So, I can recommend this sensor for a Moore-O-Matic replacement. I just hope you find the reviews or it will be a real struggle given the inadequate instructions from Digi-Code.
