Velcro pieces dont stay on brace for long.
This brake is comfortable. I was told to wear this type of brace when I broke my ankle and had to wear a steel toed boot, to return to work. It's a bit bulky but, gives me the intended protection I need. The BIG downfall is the velcro on the side of the brace (not the straps). The small velcro pieces migrate out of place when warm so, the brace doesnt stay in place as well. I have another three weeks needed with this brace and will need to buy velcro and, clean the melted adhesive to have it not slide out of place while working.

Best sprained ankle support on the market
Do not waste your time on wrapped support. This brace immobilizes your ankle for any but minimal front/back movement. It is impossible to torque it sideways, which is what keeps it sprained. The sprain heals on its own, and the gel interior cushions your leg from the necessary tight fit. I've had one for years, and am grateful for the black one!

Not great support or cold retention
I sprained my ankle with lateral pain (anterior talo-fibular ligament) and was looking for something to stabilize it, and the fact that you could keep the gel packs in the freezer for icing it periodically was a bonus. I got this item and another lace-up ASO stabilizer. This one provides minimal support. It doesn't really stabilize or limit inversion/eversion / rotation of the ankle. The cold gel pack is nice (kept in freezer between uses), but only retains cooling for a short time. The brace probably needs more stabilization/contact points near the ankle or heel (vs higher up on the calf). I have somewhat small calves and had to pull these 2 straps really tight, and even then the stabilization around the ankle doesn't really improve. I'll primarily use this perhaps at night when I want to put an ice pack on my ankle and use something less restrictive.

Does not give any support or foot protection
Give no support. It was a big waste of money. Had 3 fractures in my ankle and I was looking for some support while I was sleeping and not wearing my boot. Save your money.

It really helps
I sprained my ankle ten days ago. It may have been when I got on a "Down" escalator, which for this older guy who uses a cane is never a comfortable thing to do. I bought an all-elastic ankle compression from my local CVS, but it provided little support. A daughter who has had more than a few sprained ankles said "Dad, I'm sending you a link. Get this." I did. Had it sent overnight. It has really helped. Each day is better than the day before. In a few days I'll be able to drive again. Simple and well made. As for comfort, yes, but for me healing has meant walking as little as possible, using my cane to reduce he weight on my right foot, keeping my leg elevated as much as possible, plus cold comreesses Good value..

Cold~
It can fit a plethora of sizes. That being said, adjust it to fit, especially the part that goes under the foot, to set the width, BEFORE you put it in the freezer.
