Avatara's review of Decapitated "Organic Hallucinosis" 180 gram vinyl re-issue.
This is the 2010 Earache Records 180 gram Gatefold Vinyl re-issue of Decapitated "Organic Hallucinosis". This album was originally released in 2006 and is a great Death Metal album. In my humble opinion vinyl is the best format for listening to Death Metal and Earache is one of the best record labels to get albums from, you can't loose when you buy this album. Buy this album and you won't be sorry. The Quality of the pressing and sound reproduction is flawless. Enough said.

Absolutely blinding!
Saw them live supporting Lamb of God in Jan 2014, I went back and gave them another chance after passing them over a few year back. Can't believe I let this one get away from me! It twists and turns like a...twisting turning thing! The riffs just constantly pound into you. The vocals are stunning. I have to admit that after over 30 years of listening to metal music I can pretty much predict how a song is going to play out but this lot just had me foxed! If the tag "progressive death-metal" hadn't already been taken, this would deserve it. It's not just everything fuzzed out, deep-growl vocals and blast-beats, there's some serious artistic work in this album, clean and crisp production but still managing to pound you down.If you like your metal extreme but with good quality crisp production and some proper thought put into the writing, get this album!

Easier Listening...but still heavy as hell!
'Winds of Creation' was astonishing. 'Nihilty' was fantastic but a little repetative. 'The Negation' was excellent. So Decaptiated were on a roll. 3(proper) albums and 3 stunners.New album 'Organic Hallucinosis' is an album with a new face. 'Covan' has done a great job. I wasn't to sure at first but you start to apprechiate what he is doing. It would be so easy to come in and carry on where Shauron left off. Instead of impersonating Saurons 'grunt' we are presented with clear(er) lyrics giving the songs a more 'Entombed' sound. If you liked Sauron, it'll take a couple of songs to get used to but its worth it.As usual, the musicianship is out of this world. Bursts of speed are quickly turned into slower grinding riffs and back again. Even if you don't like the band you have to apprechiate how well they play their instruments.I wish I could give it 4.5 as its better than 4 but not quite the perfection that deserves 5.

Back to winning ways
After the slight dip in quality with 'The Negation' Decapitated bounce back to near-top form with 4th album 'Organic Hallucinosis'. As ever this is incredibly tight brutal death metal, and while the riffs may not be quite up to those of their first two albums this is still a big return to form, and the new vocalist is a definite improvement meaning you can now actually hear the lyrics. A limited edition of this album is available with a bonus DVD gig, but to be honest the quality is so poor (I've seen better bootlegs) it's not worth struggling to find.
