Small Port Size
This is a high quality 3/4-inch gas ball valve, but the port size is only 9/16-inch diameter, which is equivalent to 0.249 square inches in area. The inside diameter of 3/4-inch Schedule 40 pipe is 0.824-inch => 0.533 square inches in area. Thus, this valve's small port size is less than half of the area of the connecting pipe.I suspect the other sizes of this gas ball valve have similar small port sizes. I would recommend that a gas ball valve one size larger than the required pipe size be used to avoid excessive pressure drop and high velocity gas flow through the port.
