Probably not good for filling chips, but great for specific situations
There are a lot of different ways that a windshield could get injured. Windshields are made of two layers of glass with flexible plastic in-between. One possible result of an impact can be a tiny external hole which spreads out in a cone shaped way and gets stopped by the plastic. This is the situation I ran into. You see a large chip, but there was only a tiny spec exposed to the air. Using the plunger, I force-injected the product into the hole. The material reacts to light the same way that glass does, so the cone of cracked glass became essentially invisible. The fluid hardens with UV light. You are supposed to scrape off the extra with a razor, but I was busy so waited a couple days before I got to it. At that point, it rained and the action of the windshield wiper took off the extra. So, my thought it that it does a great job of making the cracks invisible, but it probably doesn't do a lot to make the windshield stronger. This means to me that if you have a chip - like an actual cavity exposed to the air, and you need to fill it, it wouldn't work. And if you have a huge crack to the point that the window is flexing, this would hide the crack, but it wouldn't stop the crack from expanding. These are just my theories based on how easily the stuff came off the windshield. Now, the manufacturer says that you need to put the stuff on as soon as the crack happens (which is impractical with a mail order item) and it also says that you need to do it before it rains or you get windshield washing fluid in it. It did rain between getting the chip and getting the kit, but I didn't use washer fluid. But i DID clean the area with 98% alcohol (used for electronics - it evaporates without leaving residue). But, like I say, I still think this won't strengthen your windshield, just cover up the cracks that are there.

wish I knew about this earlier-
Had a very large crack in my windshield for over a year. Finally I remembered about this do it yourself new technology as I did not want to replace the windshield on my old reliable as they no longer make that model and not sure if I could find a factory new one so I was very stressed. Thankfully I remembered this type of technology, looked it up, bought three kits-for the very large crack-used two- and told my husband to fix it with my help. We did the repair-for a UV lamp I used my UV teeth whitener light for the curing process along with the sun outdoors. Visibility is MUCH improved on passenger side-crack was not on driver side fortunately. I could tell if we had repaired it quickly it would be totally invisible. Though not invisible, the crack will never spread any more and is very safe due to this product. I AM RELIEVED!

Easy to use and works for what it is
This kit was very easy to use and the instructions were super easy. The kit did work as advertised however, my crack ended up spreading. I don’t believe this was from the kit. It’s more so because the crack/gouge I fixed went under some weather stripping. I must have not got it all because the crack became visible and got larger when we went through a wintry mix storm a month later and I bet water got in the portion that I couldn’t seal.Pros: The kit came with enough materials to do several repairs. I would say maybe 4-5 gouges and a couple 1” cracks. As stated before, the instructions were super easy and intuitive. It also came with gloves which was nice as the liquid could get everywhere. Cleanup was a breeze. After applying the sealant and cleaning per the instructions, visibility out was great. I couldn’t feel the crack anymore either.Cons: I wish there was a bit more clarity on how the product should look after you let it dry under the sun. It never seemed to look dry, even after a couple hours as the film you put on it just came off and appeared wet. But the resin in the crack was dry so who knows. Also, no matter how hard or soft I screwed the screw to make the “gasket” ring seal, it leaked. I never quite knew if the gouge got the air bubbles out.All in all, this beats paying $500 for a new windshield. We will have to eventually but this has bought us some time as it’s not really in the driver’s field of view.

Nice DIY windshield repair kit
There you are, happily driving West from Detroit, on I-94 at about 70 mph, and then this semi steps in front of you, and sends a rock directly at your windshield. I heard the impact, and I immediately knew it would have hurt the windshield. When I arrived home, I saw a small bullseye (admittedly smaller than I thought), but it was there, nevertheless. After going online, and trying to figure what my insurance covered, and what not, I realized I'd have to pay at least the first $ 500 out of my pocket, to have the whole windshield replaced, so I decided to look up alternatives to have it fixed at a much lower cost. I came across this windshield repair kit on Amazon, and decided to roll the dice. The product arrived within the expected timeframe, in a nice package. I waited a few days until it got warmer (or should I say less cold), and tried it. Instructions were not too detailed, but attention to the product design and build of the applicator showed decent thought. I spent just a few minutes placing the 4-leg applicator at the right spot, and then poured a few drops of the fill resin, and watched it flow, very slowly, filling in the hairline cracks around, and the impact area. After a while, I removed the device, and saw the repaired surface looking much better now. I still can notice where the impact occured, but it's much better now, the surface feels rather flat at touch, and I'd hope for the hairline cracks that now look completely filled, never to open again. If it fixes it for good, or at least buys me some months/years before I need to replace the windshield, it'll be very well worth it.
