A great company
After ordering this item, I realised it would not work with my current computer configuration. The company was incredibly helpful in finding me an alternative and I returned the product with no problems. They even credited my credit card before I could return the item as the holidays were upon us and they knew there would be a delay in its return. I will certainly do business with them in the future.

Does what it's supposed to.
I have an issue with it staying in the port on my gateway, but I think it's my computers fault. This product is on the pricey side for what it is, so I'm taking away a star for values sake. Like the title says it does what it's supposed to.

Great CAC reader
Although a little pricy if you buy it from Amazon, this CAC reader is great for personal laptops. I had the standard USB reader installed on my laptop but wanted something internal to reduce clutter. I just got this today and it worked immediately when I put it in my laptop! Apparently this Express card reads as a USB device, so it just uses legacy drivers. If you're having trouble getting this to work with your military/Gov ID, see the AKO CAC resource page (especially for 64-bit Windows). I didn't have to install any additional drivers as I already had an external USB reader working on my laptop, so as long as you follow the directions for a USB installation for this express-card reader you'll be signing DTS orders and changing AKO passwords in minutes! As far as looks: some reviews said this card reader sticks out a few mm from the express-card slot in their laptops, but in mine if fits flush - even with the feed ramp. I have an ibuypower FL-90 (probly doesn't mean much to most since this is an old model) and it fits flush, just for your reference.

Size problem
I have a Dell Latitude that I wanted to use this card reader in. Unfortunately, the reader was a little too short. If the reader was in all the way, then the outer end, where the card was insterted, was pinched together. That prevented insertion of a card into the reader. I ended up ordering a Lenovo reader and it worked just fine.

Perfect for Air Force Portal Users
I bought this so I could access the Air Force Portal (and other apps) from my laptop at home. My Vista computer recognized it right away and within a minute or so after inserting it into my laptop's ExpressCard slot I was using it. When your CAC is inserted into the reader it sticks out about half way (I can read everything above my name on my CAC while it's inserted). The reader itself is almost flush with the side of my computer. It doesn't stick out far enough for me to even notice. I don't have any reason to remove the reader when I'm not using it. I prefer this one over the external USB versions. This is a great way to access the vMPF, AFVEC, etc from home. FYI, you can download the necessary ActivClient software for free from the portal (without a CAC).

Easy to install, works great
I have a HP Pavillion dv6 and had been lugging and swinging around a USB corded smartcard reader for about a year when I finally got around to checking out the different available cards. I finally decided on this one after reading the product reviews of all the carda I was interested in and determined I'd settle on this one. After ti arrived, I pugged it in, my laptop recognized it, completed the install and it was ready. My only grip is that due to the actual change of the shape of the card slot itself, my smart card doesn't slide in as far as it used to. That's not the card readers fault though. I just wish who ever decided to change the slot shape had considered how a shortened card slot would impact the End Users.

One Star
Did not fit my laptop & will probably not fit most laptops out there.

GREAT CAC CARD READER
I have never tried the internal card readers...but this on by far meet my expectations...I just popped it in my PCI Express port and i not do have to worry about carrying one of the USB external card readers, with this card reader you can just leave it in....as what others have said the card has a lip that sticks out a little but nothing thats really noticable....I use this reader ALOT with my Military CAC card and i've had no problems with it...just up load the certificates from.. [...] and you good to go. The website also referd me to this specific card reader...amazon has it listed at $[...] bucks which isnt right...i got mine for $[...]...comes with drivers on a disc and ready to go....Excellent card....
