Small, light, best sharpener for 2.0mm leads I've found at any size or price
You'd think there is nothing to say about these, but blow fifty bucks on alternatives, and you see the differences. The only "con" is the lack of color choice, but real men are fine with pink. Right? If anyone wants a pink one, let me know. Anyway, aside from the color, this is thin, very light, sharpens the lead perfectly, and the dust is manageable (graphite goes all over with any and all of these sharpeners, for best results, sharpen over a Kleenex or a trashcan or go ahead and be stubborn and have grimy fingers like mine). I had several dozen 2.0mm leadholders before I started thinking about ways to sharpen the leads, and this is the best one on Amazon, possibly in the world. They seem expensive considering their components and tiny size, but the competition is as bad or worse, and sharpens less well and usually get more pulverized graphite everywhere. Five stars, repeat buyer.

Less than expected but well designed
It is probably my fault, but the picture of the sharpener showed 4 of them so I ordered expecting to receive 4 sharpeners for a reasonable price. I received ONE which made it expensive indeed. It is sharpening the mechanical pencils fine so far and it has a hole in it to which I can tie to a ribbon because they are very tiny and easy to lose. That was why I chose these sharpeners and why I have given it 3 stars. If you read the text carefully you will see the number "1" however pictures on Amazon usually depict the number of objects you will receive, so my reasonable. assumption is that I would get more than one. I feel slightly cheated. But I do advise buying the ones with holes to help keep track of them.

Best for a portable pointer
This little KUM is probably the best portable 2mm lead pointer available. It is small, lightweight, and fits on a key chain or ring. In my experience it is a bit smoother than the similar Faber model because the blade is slightly less aggressive. On the downside both this and the Faber do not contain the lead shavings so one must careful to hold it over a trash can or waste paper when using. The only reason I do not give it five stars is the price. You can buy these things for less than a dollar in some places, but if you have to pay for shipping then the price here is still a bargain. The Mitsubishi Uni is considered by many to be superior, and it is to an extent in that it results in a smooth point and contains the shavings. I use my clutch pencils for drawing and like a long taper on the point for easier shading, but the Uni makes a shorter taper than I prefer and must be carried separately in a pocket as it has no way to attach it to anything. I have owned and used all three of these which I bought from Amazon. However, If portability is not a concern, then the rotary pointers made by Faber, Alvin, and others are by far the best of all (also available from Amazon). This type has been the choice of professional draftsmen and engineers for well over 50 years. I've used one for that length of time and it is still my choice when drawing indoors at home.

A bit expensive for what it is.
Works well for #9 leads

Sort of sharpens
I had a small lead pointer like this years ago that was a free 'hand-out' from some company. It worked wonderfully and I loved it. When I saw these little gems I jumped at the chance to get one. I was, however, shocked at the price. It arrived quickly and looked exactly as pictured. I put a point on a 2H lead and the result was not as I had hoped; it was blunt. I thought I was using it incorrectly so tried every way I could think of to get a nice point on the lead. I have yet to accomplish getting a sharp point on any lead; they are all blunt! Not acceptable.I examined the razor and feel it is quite sharp and more than enough to put a good point on any lead. I am going to try to loosen the razor and angle it differently. This may prove fruitless but I'm going to try. Stay tuned.
