Rather he spins a very good book with a story that is believable and fascinating
Being a first time reader of Chris Carter I did not know what to expect. Many authors of this type of suspense novel have either degrees or extensive experience in the subject matter and make the book an extensive, overly and minutely detailed book. Chris Carter did not do that with this book.Although he has the credentials with this type of material he does not try to impress the reader with his knowledge. Rather he spins a very good book with a story that is believable and fascinating. I normally either figure out the ending for this type of thriller or get bored and labor at finishing the book. Neither negative personal reaction is related to this book. This book and its author are highly recommended. Do yourself a favor and read this book.

Another fascinating crime story from Chris Carter
I have to say that at the beginning I haven't been very much excited about the story of this book .But as the book developed the story was more interesting .I don't want to say something about storyline but the only thing that I want to say is that the cause of killer murders are the need of a driver to make a selfie on the phone .One guy in real life lost his life two weeks ago because he wanted to make a selfie ,slipped and fell off a mountain .So another great job from this author . congratulations Mr Carter .IAM looking forward to the next book . highly recommended.

The caller: hot or not
Carter continues with another hit by Robert Hunter and on this one I felt it comes a bit light compared to the other books especially if you have read One by one. It follows the same formula with a twist that makes it read like a sequel and all we are waiting for is for Robert to solve it. It is still a great read though it is a bit lame on the plot side. Rather skip to the Evil mind for something more intriguing

Another un-put-downable read
I really enjoy Chris Carter books, I wish he could write faster! This one was very good and just grabbed me from the first page. The main character is really likeable and the storyline kept me guessing right to the end. I like the writing style, it flows well and doesn't get boring or go off on tangents. So many crime writers around these days and I find myself skim reading and skipping pages, but Chris Carter I read from beginning to end and don't skip a word. I thoroughly enjoyed this latest and wish I didn't read it so quickly!

Could have been better.
Good but not as good as his others. Too many slow moments.

a review
If you are a fan of violent serial killers, then Chris Carter is your choice. However, I liked his other books better than this. This seemed to have some repetitive background information, almost word to word. This story had interesting twists and unexpected ending.

The Caller by Chris Carter
Another riveting thriller by Chris Carter. As the story continues with Detective Robert Hunter in The Caller I was pulled in from page one. Full of suspense and mystery this was a fantastic read. Can’t wait for the next. It can be read as a stand alone, however I have the complete series and it made me want to go back and refresh my memory on all his other books. Loved it!

Killer uses psychology
I don't usually enjoy serial killer stories but this one has a different approach to the storyline. The victim's and the family members forced to watch have been chosen after careful selection. There are a lot of twists, in particular one that I did not see coming. Good characterisation and storyline. Highly recommended.

WOW! Now THAT was a real rollercoaster ride of thrill..
.... suspense, horror and bloodiest details of serial killing I experienced for the last 6 hours. While I was reading breathlessly the latest, blood-dripping masterpiece written by Chris Carter.I will never miss the yearly appointment with the newest thriller from this author. Because I pre-order the eBook as soon as I see that it is about to be released . And once again I did the right thing. Because this thriller is almost impossible to top. 94 chapters in the usual Chris-Carter-length with the usual cliffhangers at the end that will be resolved only some chapters later. This author knows how to keep his readers under permanent pressure, always on the edge.To interrupt the reading was almost impossible for me.The synopsis is revealing some piece of the ordeal the first two victims are going to experience. A young woman gets a video-call from her best girlfriend. But here starts a nightmare of unimaginable dimensions. Because a killer - the Caller - is on the line. And has two questions to answer by the totally scared girl. Two right answers and her best friend will be safe. One mistake and she dies an horrible death - to be transmitted live in that very video-call. And the killer lets the play of nightmares begin...The first victim dies in a way only a very very sick mind was able to plan and go through with it. But it is the guilt the survivor will feel for their whole lifetime which nurtures the killer's satisfaction. In this case there is no place for sexually driven killings. Here more subtle mechanisms of mental illness are moving and brewing in the murderer's distorted mind. But with the selection of the second victim there will be made a very very big mistake. Because the husband of the poor slaughtered woman is not the helpless and simple business-man he seems to be. And besides the investigation of the Detectives Hunter and Garcia of the Ultra-Violent-Crimes Team of the Police Department of Los Angeles there are now other, more sinister forces at work. Who will find this sick killer first, maybe before another victim will be claimed? This is the most thrilling book I have read in the last months. And I really read a lot of thrillers, almost all written by The Best. But this one is really hard stuff, as always with this author. Who does not like to see innocent blood spilled and delicate bones broken should look for an other kind of mystery or crime-story...For all the friends and lovers of hard-boiled thrillers the first real must-read of the year 2017.OK - that's only my personal opinion, for what it is worth...(Review for the eBook for kindle, bought and verified on amazon.it)
