This item is very difficult to operate as well as being very dangerous to work with. During the first time assembling the unit, the spring got released by accident and took the skin off of my left hand the size of an old one dollars coin. This product should be taken off the market right away before it hearts someone seriously. I am an engineer myself and I can tell you this device was not designed with the Safety and security in mind. They only wanted to come up with something that does the job. They could have probably prevent it from hurting people by using a much softer spring. There is also another unit just like the one I bought, but that one has two springs. Oh my god, I can’t imagine how dangerous that unit would be. I hope Amazon read this comment and do an independent evaluation of this product as well as the one with two springs on their own to find out I am not exaggerating about this product being dangerous. After returning this item, I searched Amazon. I found another unit with a very safe design for almost the same price ($16.99) and it comes in two beautiful colors. Following is the description of this product;“Adjustable Stainless Steel Fishing Spinning Rod Pole Holder Ground Insert Support Stand Bracket Fishing Rod Holder Rack AU Stand Size: 140x370mm”.Anyway if after reading this comment, you are still going ahead and buying the dangerous unit regardless of with one or two springs, all I can say is “I wish you luck”. I used the word luck, because without it, you would definitely get hurt sooner or later. It is just a matter of time. I promise you, the question is not if this unit will hurt you? The question is when is it going to hurt you? This product is like a time bombshell waiting to explode. I am sorry, I usually don’t write bad comments. Because my belief is, like the old saying that says “if you don’t have anything good too say, then don’t say it”. But, in this instance, it has to do with the safety and security. I couldn’t see myself to stand around and watch other people getting hurt. I would have felt guilty if I did not write this comment. Again, if you are still interested in buying this product please feel free to do so. I am not trying to tell anybody what to do. But, remember, if you purchase this item and got hurt, you only have yourself to blame.This is an update to my original comment:After returning the product, I went back to the pictures the vendor has provided for every one to look at as their advertising. Lo and behold, if you look at their second picture uploaded by the vendor on the bottom right hand side. You will notice, the vendor even claims that this unit has an area that is dangerous in a very small font that could be ignored by anyone. However, I give the vendor credit to put it in red color.I don’t understand, if they know it is dangerous, then why releasing it to the public to hurt themselves.

I have lost many fish using these tools, some times they work and sometime they don't, I have them set at the highest sensitivity but some time doesn't pop, I used one today and I watched my rod getting a good bite but it didn't pop. I got one yesterday when it did work, so if u us it best to keep an eye on it.

Don’t buy these! Bought as a Christmas gift for someone and the first time they used them he was setting them and almost took off the tip of his finger!! Had to have 7 stitches!!

These are way too shaky. If they weren't made to be taken apart, they'd probably be good. I'd be worried about a fish taking off with my rod and the top half of this thing.
