12ct Petstar Nitenpyram 11.4 mg for Cats & Dogs 2-25 lbs

used to spend a fortune on capstar because it really worked where others did not. found this doing research and gave it a try. we live right next to a canyon so plenty of flea carrying wildlife just past our fences. plus a rather large yard with loads of plants and trees. need to keep our beasties in at night so they are safe from coyotes who can jump high fences. this works as well as capstar and at a MUCH lower price. now i can give them daily doses without worrying about the cost. please don’t stop selling this.

It does work, but you have to be very sneaky.... cheese works for the dogs, but if the cat gets so much as whiff.......nope.....not gonna happen.Also, the picture and the price point is misleading. You get exactly 12 pills.

I read reviews here and decided to give this a try as opposed to paying more for capstar. I emptied the capsule into food and mixed it well. To my surprise Milo ate it. He is really really finicky and I totally expected him to take one whiff and refuse to eat it but that didn't happen; however about 45 minutes after ingestion he started acting really weird! Excessive grooming, sick looking in his eyes, and panting and just roaming from room to room meowing a funny meow. Scared me so bad cause I did not have money for emergency vet so I frantically googled his behavior only to find out that it is not uncommon! This was his first time taking any kind of medication as he is only 7 months old. Anyway long story short...he was fine after about an hour and all fleas I combed out with flea comb were dead! I had bought a flea collars that claimed to kill eggs but it did not work (that is a whole nother story :( anyway about a week later I noticed fleas Myst have hatched and he was scratching again! I was afraid to give him any more of this medication after what had happened so I called vet and explained and was told he would be fine and if it even happened again it would probably be much milder reaction but either way it would not kill him! I did give the second capsule sprinkled in food just as before and watched the clock anticipating the same reaction but nothing! Second dose was totally fine and again all fleas were dead! Now I just gotta get the eggs and larva stages under control so that was mine and my Milo's experience with this product! I would definitely purchase again.

My cats love me and trust me, so I could not bear to push a 15 mm capsule down their throats. The powder is slightly acrid, a little like powered aspirin. So, I sprinkled the powder on cat food salmon pate and doused the powder with dog supplement salmon oil. They ate it up. I didn't actually see dead fleas falling from their coats, but they are scratching less.

These work great and are way cheaper than Capstar from the vet's office.

Started working quickly! Also came 1 day sooner than expected!

I prefer the capsules which had the softer white powder in them. This brown stuff does not melt into tuna juice or cat food very well and I don't think the cats like the taste of it. I may try this again because the other is no longer available. I am also considering switching back to the tablets which are much more expensive but they eventually dissolve then mix into food easily.
