I've owned UPSs from APC and CyberPower. After having my lead-acid backup fail during a flicker in the power line, I decided to give this lithium backup a chance. It's well built, easy to use, and attractive. The display is bright and easy to read. When I unplug it, it switches to battery fast enough that my PS5 doesn't notice. The fan turns on when charging or running off battery, but turns off when fully charged. The fan is almost imperceptible, but would be noticeable if it sat on a desk. Like my CyberPower, it outputs a pure sine wave, which is beneficial for protecting computers. Unlike the CyberPower, the GoldenMake is virtually silent.Setting up the unit was easy. Unlike my other UPSs, every outlet in the back is the same. All are protected by battery backup. There are no Ethernet or USB ports, master outlets or management software. This is a simple plug-and-play device for the home or small office. Its low maintenance design is one of its selling points.I do have a few nits.The power cord is only 4' long. I wish it came with a longer cord and a flat plug. To Goldenmate's credit, it's a standard C13 cord used on any PC, and I can easily replace it with any cord I want. Goldenmate assumes no responsibility for damage caused by a third party power cord.Like any UPS, this unit beeps when it's on battery power. The beep is much softer than any other UPS I have used, and I can silence it with a single button press. I wish I could set it to only beep when the battery is low.It has eight outlets in back, a lot for such a compact unit, but they are so closely spaced that I can't use them all.It's supposed to offer surge protection, but I can find no information on what kind or how many joules.The unit has a 5 year warranty, excluding the battery. Goldenmate claims the battery will last 10 years, although they do not say how much it will degrade in that time (50% like a TV panel?). The battery is not replaceable. Right now, I have more than enough battery power to run my modem, router, and other devices in standby mode (20w total) for hours.I am happy with my purchase and I would recommend it.

I got this because my Xbox Series X kept flipping my breaker (this fixed it). After 30+ hours of lost game play, I did bunch of research and landed on this one due to its large battery, high output (VA), and pure sine wave (see bottom for sine wave details). After plugging in my entire home theater (85” TV, sound bar, Xbox, Nintendo, AppleTV, WiFi router, light strip, fan, & antenna) I turned everything on and unplugged the UPS. Nothing turned off, hummed, or changed in any way. After testing a few more times, my TV occasionally power cycled, but none of the other devices tuned off. The TV’s normal power cycle takes 10 - 15 seconds and these were 3 - 5 seconds. It could be a sensitive surge protection fail safe?In the off chance someone is reading this with a similar Xbox / breaker issue - this UPS is an actual fix, not a bandaid. I only intended it to let me save my game after a tripped breaker, but the breaker doesn’t trip when the Xbox is plugged into it.Sine Wave Details: Pure sine waves deliver the exact power needed continuously. Modified sine waves change their output periodically. ChatGPT / Reddit said pure sine waves are only necessary for sensitive equipment (scientific / medical). A deeper dive suggested it’s preferred for tech (computers / TVs) because some devices will make a humming noise. However, none of this is applicable until a power failure and the UPS takes over.

I had two old lead acid battery UPS's go out all at once. I'd been wanting to try a LiPo battery UPS, but the in the past they were cost prohibitive. But, as it turned out there was a deal on the GoldenMates, so I bought two for a good price.Before buying, I did check out reviews on Youtube and elsewhere and all I found for the 1000VA/800W GoldenMate were positive. The version of the Goldenmate most commonly reviewed was a slightly earlier version, but the specs were the same. The only apparent difference was the rear panel outlets. The earlier version had four angled outlets where the one available now has eight outlets in two rows of four.In terms of performance, I'm impressed. I'm backing up my router and modem, which are a combined 23-25 watts under normal load. The GoldenMate lasted over 9 hours before shutting down, so the 230Wh rating seems about right. I also liked how easy it was to silence the alarm tone (just press the power button for about a second). So, no complaints on the longevity side. This is a good basic UPS.I don't have a meter, but per the reviews I've seen, this is a pure sine wave UPS, so power quality should be good; better than many UPS in this price/capacity range.There are three negatives, all minor. But that's why I've deducted one star.1. The tightly grouped eight outlets mean that if you're plugging in the typical power transformer block, you won't likely get more then 3 or 4 devices connected.2. There are no "surge only" outlets. With all of the other UPS's I've owned, there were a combination of "UPS backed up" and "surge only" outlets. For example, if I wanted to plug in a laptop charger along with my network devices, I'd plug the laptop charger in a surge only outlet. It would be protected from minor surges, but not powered by the UPS if power fails. With the GoldenMate, there is no option to do this. Of the three negatives, this is the one that most bugs me.3. This is a "dumb" UPS. There is no possibility to connect it to a computer for a soft shutdown. For my uses, this is not a problem as I'm only powering network communication devices. But, if you need a UPS that will shutdown your computer as the battery reaches the end of it's ability to power your PC, this isn't it.Other notes:--Depending on how much power you are drawing, a cooling fan will come on under battery. The fan isn't terrily loud, but you will hear it. For my scenario above only pulling 25 watts, the fan did not come on during the time I observed it. If the fan did power on, it would obviously take battery power away from your devices.--Charging is very slow. This isn't really a negative. Typically, you don't need a UPS to charge quickly and it should be gentler on the battery life with a slower charge. The UPS arrived at about 3/4 charge. It took several hours to fully charge. As long as you don't have frequent power failures, I don't think will an issue.--The power inverter apparently has about 1-2% overhead of the power being consumed (per the power display). For example (see pic), my router and modem were drawing 22watts but the UPS was drawing 23watts.--It is both smaller and lighter than lead acid UPS's of the same capacities. But, it is not exactly light or small. Again, not a negative, but I was surprised the UPS was a large as it is.All in all, I'm happy with the GoldenMate so far. I'll update if there are any changes to my ratings.
