I'm using it in the 2 to 1 Config. Works as expected.

I'm using it in the 2 to 1 Config. Works as expected. My older receiver only has one optical input and one coax. I need to add another device with only an optical output to my system. So I plugged in the optical cable on this splitter into my receiver and then plugged in The other two devices. As expected, with both of them plugged in I didn't get any sound. But it's super easy to unplug one of the cables. I thought about getting a splitter with a remote but this does the job. We rarely use the Blu-ray player That I now use the splitter with. On the rare occasion that we watch a Blu-ray, I just need to reach behind the TV and unplug the appropriate optical And I get Dolby digital or DTS with the same quality as if the optical was plugged directly in to the receiver. If your cables are difficult to get to or you use both devices that are plugged in quite often, you will be better off with a splitter that has separate optical out ports that are managed by a remote or switch. But in this particular use case, it was simple and I didn't have to spend an extra 20 bucks on yet another Electronic device and have to go through the process of reprogramming my harmony remote.I haven't tried it in the recommended configuration, but I suspect that it probably works as stated by other reviews.

Device stopped splitting correctly. Price too low to make it worth returning.

I purchased this on Match 22 2019 and it seemed to do its job pretty well for a passive optical splitter. I read the reviews and they convinced me. This is the first device of its kind that I've used - specifically for a sound bar and a pair of Sennheiser wireless RF headphones. It stopped working a week ago. It'll either successfully connect one optical audio feed or the other. Not both. This is the typical behavior of digital feeds. It either works or it doesn't. The actual toslink cables used here have nothing to do with it. No extreme bending, no loose connections and the caps on the cable ends are removed. The cables connected to the 2 outputs are 3ft and I wonder if that's causing issues. Length matters when it comes to these devices but I would sure hope 3ft is within acceptable length. I understand the physical limitations of optical audio. I'll also add that from a visible aspect, I do see optical light flowing through each cable, although weaker than its source. My recommendation: do not purchase a passive optical audio splitter but rather an active one, meaning one that uses an external power source so you don't end up with one weak optical feed versus the other. The 2 feeds resulting from the split are amplified guaranteeing no digital signal loss. Splitting the optical feed should not end up with 2 weaker feeds compared to its source with these. They cost in the low $20 range as of now, from what I'm finding out. That's what I'm going to do so I know I won't be risking this problem with future purchases.I hate giving one star reviews but if the device cannot serve its purpose then it's nothing but a paperweight. Unfortunately this device is not heavy enough to serve as a paperweight.

This is a really good device. And it comes with a lifetime guarantee.

I us the splitter with my TV sound bar and with a specialty device that connects to my hearing aids. The splitter works just fine with the sound bar but I do experience static with the hearing aid device. I don't believe this has anything to do with the splitter. The hearing aid device - a Phonak TVLink - gets audio from the TV via the splitter then rebroadcasts it to my hearing aids via Bluetooth. I think the static issue has something to do with the Bluetooth connection. The sound bar is not impacted at all. Good quality sound from it all the time.Having said all that, the static is not too bad and I can actually distinguish what the individual actors are saying. Something I could not do without the splitter/TVLink. So, all-in-all, I am very pleased with the results. The splitter is a simple set up and works perfectly.

Perfect solution for PS4 Slim w/Skullcandy P1

I got a PS4 Slim which doesn’t have an optical audio port, but I had already owned a $200 pair of Skull Candy P1 headset which requires optical audio. Frustrated for more than a year trying to find a way to get use out of my expensive headset, I found this. After figuring out how to connect the audio optical cable from my TV to the headset tower, I was in business...except I had to keep unplugging my cable from my entertainment center and routing to my headset tower. No longer! With this splitter I’m able to turn on the TV and enjoy the same if not slightly better sound from my surround sound, and then enjoy my headset without anymore hustle. The sound quality is great! You cannot use both devices at the same time (I don’t think). When I want to use my headset, I simply turn off my surround sound and all the sound then goes to my headset, very simple. The splitter securely snapped into the TV and I didn’t need any support like zip ties, this is despite having a thick optical audio cable plugged into one of the two ports (that cable also snapped into the connection socket). Lastly, this splitter is by far the neatest (installation wise) option there is, especially since it’s out of site with minimal connections.

Works as expected

Had my stereo receiver hooked into the digital optical audio port of my television. When I bought a sound bar to help provide much better quality t.v. sound (and to avoid having the stereo on every time we watched t.v.), I found that it sounded best when also hooked into the optical audio port (note that our t.v. does not have an HDMI ARC connection). Since I didn't want to have to switch out cables each time we used the stereo to listen to Pandora and such, I started looking for splitters, and this one had some of the better reviews. Have only just hooked it up, but now I have both the receiver and sound bar hooked into it, and both work, even simultaneously. Do not notice any loss in sound quality. Should this stop working in the near future, I'll update the review, but for now, this splitter does the job.
