Saves hay and creates havoc
Really sorry to have to say this but it was ok for about a month or so. Then the horses started pulling the grid out so every morning found it yards away from the bin. Very dangerous. Then they started hauling the bin around so tried tying it up. Then they just upended it and got no hay at all. Our yard is not far from house so noise of all this banging keep waking us up! I have tried putting nets in but they just got frustrated trying to get hay out. I have now gone back to haynets and put this bin under to save dropped hay. Afraid that this product sounds a good idea but not really fit for purpose.

A Hay Fortune saver!!
What can I say about the horse hay saver it does exactly what is supposed to and has saved us a fortune in wasted hay . One thing to note is if you have a big horse you may need to put some weight in to the bottom of it to stop them pulling it over.

Not safe in it’s current form!
This seemed like such a good idea and the answer to the prayers of us frustrated horse owners fed up of seeing hay or haylage trampled in the mud or blowing in the wind! Unfortunately, there is enough give in the inner grid with holes in for my horses to remove it and also the sliding top! It didn’t take long and, once removed, the inner grid is very dangerous! My horse got his foot stuck in one of the holes, panicked and bolted down the field with it wrapped around his fetlock! Luckily I was there to rescue him! For these reasons I cannot recommend this product in it’s current form. However, I do feel that it could be extremely useful with a couple of adjustments.

Best design for natural feeding.
I have five horses and these are the best ever for natural feeding. Use them in the paddock, in each stable, for the foals and the big fellas. No hay is wasted. Can soak - needs a good hoof up to drain, but very much doable. Slight modification - I use sizel rope knotted loop to stop the curious from trying to open the lids. In the stables I can also clip rope to wall to keep it in one place.

Not much use for my pair
I found this feeder a waste of time. I ordered the board with the smaller holes but I think the holes are still too big letting my pair eat as fast as eating from the ground. It is also frustrating for the horses as the box has sloping sides so the board does not go right to the bottom where there is still hay. My mare was very cross about this and started kicking the box. It is also very light so can be kicked about when empty. I put two bricks in bottom to try and weight it. So to sum up not impressed.
