So Bad Its Almost Good Again!

I knew by the plasticness of the lead lady's face that this movie would be bad! However sometimes films are that bad they then end up being quite good to watch and so is the case with this film.Apparently someone is making tidal waves to take over the world and it so happened the lead male is the suspect. He's innocent and the lady sent to find out whether he is or not soon ends up playing hard to get. In amongst that there's some very short wave sequences and despite all the swimming and splashing everyone does they all have dry hair and clothes.Even though the plot twist is spotted miles ahead of it being shown and even though the effects and script are awful, the acting isn't that bad and its quite enjoyable just to watch to see all the mistakes and cringeworth dialogue. if you enjoy those types of films, this is a good example of when scripts don't work.

Typical made-for-TV disaster film

Killer Wave follows two scientists unraveling the mystery of why tsunamis are hitting the US east coast. They are set up as being terrorists and need to get to the truth as well as clearing their names.A TV miniseries which runs for 175 minutes and is split in two, which allows you to take a break at a logical place. This is a typical budget disaster film but nonetheless is entertaining enough for what it is. The acting is OK however Angus Macfadyen is an unlikely leading man. What helps the story along is there a a number of tsunami incidents along the way, so the pace builds then falls and so-on. So many mini-series just build for almost the entire run time with a single disaster at the end. Having said this, there's not too much happening in the disaster scenes and the digital special effects are rather basic. The disk includes a Dolby surround track as standard which doesn't add anything much to the atmosphere. It's still a bit of fun and entertaining if you understand the limitations of these types of productions.

This made-for-TV disaster movie is near being a disaster itself

Having abandoned his Nobel Prize-winning career, scientist John Wahl (Corbin Bernsen) enjoys his lazy retirement at his ocean-side home, until unexpected tsunamis begin to proliferate around the world, and one strikes his beach. Wahl initially refuses requests by the federally controlled Aquatronics Corp. to pick his brain, but relents when he realises that these global meteorological disasters are man-made. Chief Oceanographer Lt. Commander Jessica Weaver (Julianne Phillips) dismisses Wahl's contention that an Aquatronics researcher is harnessing the waves; she harbours her own suspicions about Wahl, who's never been a team player.Later Weaver discovers records of military experimentation concerning artificially created waves. Both Weaver and Wahl pool their resources to unmask the perpetrator behind the disasters - before another tidal wave strikes. This made-for-TV disaster movie is near being a disaster itself. The first few minutes of Tidal Wave: No Escape features some serious use of stock footage, add to that an implausible plot, cardboard characters, wooden acting and scientific gobbledygook. The premise was a complete malarkey and about as scientifically credible as an episode of Dangermouse! And to that end I suppose it could be considered as fairly entertaining. But my point is that this one doesn't let you forget that it is a B-movie.
