Quality Ironmongery LAT0031AMZ Plain Ring Gate Latch, Zinc Plated, 152mm

This is the worst quality item I've ever bought. Yes, I'm serious. The first one I ordered was corroded inside and fell into pieces during the installation. I requested the replacement (arrived very quickly). After few days the hook holding the lock fell off. It is made from the cheapest possible steel and parts are not properly joined together! Not worth buying.

Broke within 2 minutes of fitting and I wish that was a over exaggeration, the actual bar is also bent heavily outwards which puts added pressure on the latch and screws holding it all together.

The Ring Gate Latch arrived promptly and appeared as described (reasonable quality for the cheap price). However, a few weeks after fitting the Ring Gate Latch the Keep (which limits the movement of the Latch) detached from its baseplate hence the assembly no longer operated as intended. In addition, it became noticeable that the Zinc Plating had degraded with corrosion evident on the surface (no longer the shinny flawless finish on receipt). I contacted the seller regarding the failed Keep and was promised a replacement which never arrived. As a consequence I ordered a "more robust" Ring Gate Latch replacement from Ironmongery Online (Zinc Plated, thicker material section, die cast Catch and Keep) which has since been fitted and is very satisfactory. In summary, this product is cheap in price (consequential to its manufacturing process) and in my experience has "limited operational life". For a small additional premium there are more robust design solutions available.

This item s not fit for purpose and fails quickly as it is not properly manafactured and should not be sold by Amazon.This one broke after a few days and the replacement after 12 hours.What joke and waste of time and money.I should be refunded for both these substandard products and compensated for my abortive time in fitting and removing them.

The latch arrived in good time and I found it to be a strong and well made fitting suitable for my side gate. Much better than my previous one which was made of thin metal and bent. Well done to the company who supplied the LAT0031AMZ gate latch, a quality product at a good price.

You only get what you pay for, this is a very cheap flimsy lock that will bend on a slight breeze! The inner bolt workings will let you down when you try and get in! Grrrrrr!! Mine lasted 2 weeks before I took it off and replace with a quality unit, total waste of money!

Product arrived within a few days and looks very strong; however, appearances can be deceptive. I attached the larger latch part to my front gate and whilst i was attaching the small metal overpiece (which stops the latch moving too far up and down) the latch piece split in half. This was the part where the rectangular part joins with the circular handle part.Anyway, I unscrewed everything and fitted the two pieces together before reattaching to the gate. The same thing happened again. Three times I tried this. Perhaps if the two pieces were welded together, rather than a thin tin washer being used, the product would last longer than a few minutes.---------------i just went out earlier and bought a cheap latch for just over £1 it works and hasn't broken

Given the description, I expected a bit better but found this to be thinner than the one I was replacing. Annoyingly the catch bit just completely broke in two. At I'd already mounted the rest I've just used the old one I had instead of sending back.
