Great IPS screen let down by scratches

I got a great deal for the version without a case. Unfortunately the screens were scratched, one so badly I had to return it. The replacement one also had a significant scratch but I kept it feeling like it was still a good value. The IPS screen is beautiful at any angle and came with a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable and a USC-C to USB-A cable. The screen can be powered from the touchscreen port (assuming that USB port on your computer supplies enough power). The screens seem like seconds because of the scratches, perhaps why they are priced so low. It was in a bag and in foam padding so it had to be that way from the factory. If they had just put some protective film on the screen during manufacturing, it would be five stars. If you pay full price for this, you may be disappointed.

Looks like a good display but not the size I was looking for.

I bought this screen to display status information from the inside of my computer case against the tempered glass. It looks like it would do an amazing job at that however the area I wanted to display this required smaller dimensions. The photos said the screen would be about 6.5 inches length wise and when I measured the same dimension it was closer to 8.25ish inches. Overall the screen looks good and decent quality but the information in the description is inaccurate. I'll have to send back and look for a new one

Great little project monitor

I've been building what I call 'rustic PCs', little miniPCs that I mount in little wooden boxes; something that doesn't look too techy. This monitor fits in the lid of a moderately sized jewelry box very nicely and being a touchscreen provides all the input you really need to do basics on a computer. I'm not sure I'd want to use it as a main input device for too long; but part of that is just the nature of Windows not being the greatest for a touchscreen, I suspect.Either way, no complaints. A nice way to add both an input and a screen to a primarily networked computer.

Great Display Picture

Works well, Raspberry Pi fits nicely on back. I think the circuit board should have been better designed. Board does not power the Pi. The Pi will power the board. Outputs on the board extend past the edge of the board, even with 180 degree adapters it still takes almost 1/2 inch clearance for a case. The outputs could have been placed on the top edge of the board and would have been in the space already covered by the screen.

Looking Good

The HMTECH 9 Inch display was easy to connect but there is one quirk. The display must be allowed to boot up before the computer is powered up or the touch won’t work. Computers can be finicky about loading drivers. I had to power the display separately since I couldn’t get power from the computer USB without powering the computer first. (The computers I used did not have always powered USB.)The HDMI cable connects the display to the computer and a USB cable connects the touch port on the display to any USB port on the computer. Plug a power supply into the display and press the power button in the back. (The display never used more than 400 mA.) Allow the display to start (the splash screen will disappear) before powering up the Raspberry Pi. The lights on the back of the display will flash red and green a few times as the display is being recognized by the computer, then turn green. This is a good-looking display that works flawlessly with my Lenovo Windows 10 thin client, my Raspberry Pi 3B and ASUS Tinker Board S.

9" HDMI Touchscreen w/out case - very readable - touch screen finicky

So for $80, this product is pretty good. I was leaning towards 5 stars but I had a lot of difficulty with the touch screen aspect on my pi 3B+. I see others were surprised it came without a case - but it clearly states that in the description for the lower priced option. The touchscreen worked great with Windows. I tried multiple times, with different cables before my pi recognized the USB touchscreen. I tried with and without external power. Without power I would see it appear occasionally in dmesg but then drop out because of power loss. But, when I had the external power it wouldn't register until about the 10th time plugging in.I'm not too bothered as I mainly plan to use it for headless SBCs. It would be nice if someone had an STL file for 3D printing. Unlike another comment, my board had 4 standoffs for a Pi, and 4 standoffs on the corners of the board that could be used one way or another for mounting. One addition that would have been nice is to have different ports if you were to mount a pi to it for the screen and usb connection to keep that within the footprint of the board.

Decent for What it Is

Iwas excited to get into this and see what it was all about. Right of the bat I noticed issues. Touchscreen was scratched out of the box. With a Windows 11 OS the touchscreen only works on screen if the touchscreen is the main monitor otherwise every touch input centers to the main monitor and is not very useful. You have to go into the Tablet PC Settings and setup the pen and input devices in order to use the touchscreen only kmkn touchscreen devices. The screen is visually delightful, crisp, clear, and bright with excellent contrast. I actually lowered the brightness of the backlight and LCD panel because it was too bright at 50% defaults. The resolution of 1024x600 is not great as an extra monitor, but perfectly usable for small applications like a touchscreen control panel or interactive tablet device.Speakers are very tinny and cheap sounding as should be expected.Only 1 USB-C cable is provided so if separate power is needed a separate cable is needed.Lack of housing, shroud or case around the monitor is perfect if you plan to make a custom housing, just be mindful of providing access to the OSD controls on the back right side of the monitor panel.
