Unfortunately this product didn't work on my toshiba canvio slim II, but only because of errors with the HDD, which was faulty and eventually died. However, I am still keeping the cord for future use as the HDD port side is universal among many different external HDDs out there.

Wish I could rate it a five star; but, the y portion of the cable is to short to effectively be used between my Surface Pro 3 and external hard drive. Plus, after just a month of usage, data started being dropped. Upon careful examination, I found that the cable at the y appeared to be flimsy/falling apart. I could jiggle that portion of the cable and the data transfer would begin & drop. Thankfully, it didn't cost much and I was able to replace it with a larger more solid cable.

It would have been great if I actually received what I ordered. I received 1.5 ft usb male to usb female cable! very upset! 4 stars for the cable I did receive tho...works great! I would give it 5 stars if I actually ordered it!!

It works great when connecting a Surface Pro 3 to a USB powered monitor that requires dual USB ports.
