The NMEA 2000 Wi-Fi Gateway allows you to see data from a NMEA 2000 marine digital network on a PC or smartphone. With it, you get marine network data including vessel course, speed, position, wind speed and direction, water depth, AIS messages from vessels and aircrafts and other navigation data in popular software applications. The Device creates its own Wi-Fi network (with about 30 meters range in open spaces) or it can be connected to an existing Wi-Fi network. In the second case, the coverage depends on coverage of the base network; laptops and PCs can be connected to Wi-Fi routers (and the Gateway) by Ethernet; and you can configure remote access to Gateway over the Internet. The Device has a bi-directional converter between NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 protocol. NMEA 0183 protocol is widely supported in marine applications dating back to last millennium. So the Device is compatible with virtually all marine mobile applications (except applications especially designed for use only with specific hardware) and with most popular PC applications. The Gateway: - can duplicate or replace broken instruments or complement obsolete instruments; - has built-in web gauges, only a browser is required to view real-time vessel data; - can act as a NMEA 2000 wireless extender and allows joining of two or more physical networks; - can pass any message (including proprietary) between NMEA 2000 and a PC application by RAW protocol; - with NMEA 0183 protocol, provides compatibility with virtually all marine applications, including Navionics; - allows to control Raymarine SeaTalk NG autopilots from NMEA 0183; is compatible with NMEA 2000, J1939 and Volvo Penta EVC networks; - supports TCP and UDP protocols, works as a Wi-Fi Access Point or can be connected to an existing Wi-Fi network; - supports firmware updates over Wi-Fi and diagnostic data logging;

Glass helm!
So much better than analog gauges!I use the web dashboard on a very old iPad, and now I can trust the data I see.The old analog boat gauges were a joke.

Easy to set-up!
I wanted Expedition software on my laptop to get NMEA 2000 data via wireless. It took about three minutes for the set-up. Power off the instruments, add a connector and the Yacht Device gateway, power back on, use the Yacht Devices drop down in Expedition instruments settings and I was up and running. I had allocated all day assuming it would be difficult - I was really impressed.One downside (for me) was that I had hoped to us the Yacht Device wi-fi to support mirroring the laptop screen to an iPad. This is not supported. Yacht Devices tech support got back to me in day with my question about this which was nice.Overall, I highly recommend this device!

Works great!
Works well with my Ipad Navionics Boating App (conveys depth and AIS ships) and also works with my Polarview NS PC navigation software. The WebGauges feature shows engine gages and rudder position from my boat's NMEA 2000 bus.

Awesome piece of tech
So far I have been super happy with the Yacht Devices gear. I have two of these along with their temp/humidity and barometer sensors. Currently I am using this to provide data to Navionics running on an iPAD. Support is being added to SignalK and with that there will be endless possibilities of what to do with the boat's data. Everything from journal keeping to performance metrics, intelligent alarms, and automation. The built-in web server is pretty handy too to get a quick peak at the instruments on your iphone when down below.

Simple and good range.
I was looking to be able to access some of my NMEA2000 data on my cell phone and tablet. This worked much better than a Garmin Pico I installed a few years ago. The navionics app uses speed and direction, and the ip site (web page) they provide allows you to customize a few pages of gauges and data that are enough. I like having the anchor drag info next to my bed.

Works as advertised
Worked as advertised, just install on a NMEA 2000 connector and follow WiFi setup instructions and your ready to see all your NMEA data in your device

Easy to install, works great
I'm using the YDWG-02 to get apps on my iPad Mini to see the boat instruments. It works really well and was trivial to install. I like that it came with a SeatalkNG plug, so that I didn't need to buy an expensive adapter. The tiny size and low power consumption fit well with my boat.
