Love reading this book
This book was very informative, however, some of the chapters in this book is not realistic, I can say that because some of the characters are my relatives. I grew up with this Organization and have lived through the triumps of their downfalls. However, overall, the book is very informative.

A factual account of the Black P Stones in Woodlawn
I grew up in Woodlawn during the rise of the Blackstone Rangers and I found the book to coincide with my recollections of the time period. What I did question is the statements made by Rev. Brazier who has been deceased for quite some time. It's seems that some reflections might have actually come from his son who is also a minister.

Excellent, Even-Handed, Honest
Natalie Moore has written an excellent history of one of America's enduring political and social challenges -- the street gang. She is especially gifted at situating the story of the Almighty Black P Stones in an economic and political context, unpacking the rationale for gang activity generally and the appeal and success of the P Stone experiment in particular. As is so often the case with terrorist organizations outside the USA, some in this country tend to dismiss gangs and gang activity as a kind of purely atavistic undertaking, ignoring the root causes and sources of the phenomenon. Moore's sophisticated analysis does more than show just how deeply embedded in Chicago's racial politics was the origins of the P Stone phenomenon, it highlights the difficulty of one-size-fits-all "anti-gang" policy for dealing with the challenge. Highly recommended to anyone interested in urban politics, criminal justice, the history of Chicago, and social movements.

Public's ONLY source to BPSN
I encourage all urban residents of Chicago to buy this book, especially if you're from these following areas inside Chicago: like Roseland, Englewood, Woodlawn, and Grand Boulevard. This book is definitely for me and you to read. Mr. Williams and Ms. Moore did a great job of entertaining the readers and gradually recounting past figurative experiences of the 60s through living sources, thus destroying a lot of myths associated with the Black P Stone Nation that remain alive and awkwardly well to this day.

Excellent
A must read for anyone who wants to know about the origins of the Black P Stones. A very well written historical document. This book captures the views from all sides in an intelligent and coherent way. I learned a lot from this book and I'm a life long Chicago Southsider. I highly recommend this book.
