Beyond Art Fundamentals: A Guide to Emotion, Mood, and Storytelling for Artists Paperback – 22 Jan. 2022

Although it leans more towards digital art it's still versatile and adaptable toward traditional mediums, it uses artworks made by the creators and other to explain what the messege behind the piece was and how they portrayed that in the end! Good stuff!

This book essentially teaches people how to use colour, light and composition to give the viewer an emotion, story or feeling. VERY useful to those of us who make original works!

A gorgeous and insightful book- was quite different from what I was expecting, but an absolute joy to look at and read nonetheless. Along with the gorgeous illustrations and explanations of the artists process, it gave very useful tips to help create better illustrations- not just your everyday advice that most people can think of. Well worth the buck.

Eyeopening

This book is a continuation to its predecessor Art Fundamentals. It focusses on furthering work by invoking emotion and story telling. The artists have been given themes. These vary from emotions such as anger to various situations such as isolation etc. Each artist writes about their thought processes and what they aim to achieve. It makes for an interesting read as they all have different approaches. However, all the final pieces demonstrate flair and creativity. There is also a section where two artists are tasked with the same brief. Its great to see two awesome artists providing paint overs and constructive crits to each others work. It's always interesting to see how briefs can be tacked differently.Overall, I would recommend this book to all artists looking to add a new dimension to their work.
