I have a mouse that keeps getting on top of my cars air-box, anybody know of a bait that won't attract ants? Peanut-butter is attracting tiny ants.

the best bait  have found is chicken bones and they are effective up to two weeks and no ants that i have seen. i too have had mice in car and under hood-used the poison paste packets but have seen nothing since i placed a few in car & under hood

The silver lever that you use to set the trap will go from the down position to the up position, and the red plastic piece that is visible from the top will disappear.

How many times can you reuse this trap?

Hello, you can reuse it until it breaks, I have had some that went several dozen kills and some that only had less than 12.  The problem is that when you  pull back the mechanism to set the trap, the little piece that holds the mechanism in the set position is made from plastic and it eventually wears out or breaks off.  Putting the trap on a solid surface and slowly setting it helps to promote longevity.  These traps are nice in that you can relieve the trap pressure and shake the dead mouse out of it into the trash, toilet or whatever without having to touch the mouse.  Also, one baiting with peanut butter is usually good for several kills before more p.b. is necessary.  I keep many traps of several styles set all the time around my place and in all my vehicles and equipment as we live in the middle of the woods and pastureland.  Also, if you run into some resistance setting the unit, reach in to the bait area with a knife blade and jiggle the release plate a bit.

What is the best/most effective bait to use?

I have good luck with peanut butter. Use just enough to fill the bait reservoir. My husband was filling it to overflowing, and the traps caught nothing. After a month, I washed out the peanut butter and put in just enough PB to fill the reservoir. Within 2 days, we started catching mice again.
