Many years ago my son, who passed away 2 months ago, gave me porcelain praying hands on a wooden music box. Along the way, the musical insert stopped working and the box was misplaced. I recently happened upon the box which was in very poor condition. I restored it, including replacing the musical insert (which was this purchase) and am so happy with the results!

I ordered this to compare with the other mechanisms. Naturally, this is a much better quality but the price was too high for my purpose since I needed 50.But it is a good quality mechanism and it sure is pretty.

Quality music boxes
This music bow is made mostly of metal which makes it heavier than many others, but this one will last. The sound is better than most of this size. Not good for gifting as is, but it’s wonderful for crafting.

The music box was basically what I expected.
I was generally satisfied with the product. It's true that you have to put it in a box to get the proper sound and volume. I purchased it to install in a box I already had and encountered much difficulty because the stem of the winder was not long enough to accomodate the thickness of the wood. More trouble than it was worth. The main defect of the music box itself is that the spring is barely strong enough to unwind the the key, therefore a good portion of the tune remains unplayed unless I help it along by "unwinding" the key. This is significant considering the relatively short play time even under optimum circumstances.

Music box Replacement Part
My wife had an old music box which was not working. The spring had been overwound and sprung. She asked me if there was anything I could do. I spotted this on Amazon for under $10 and decided at that price it was worth a try.End result is a music box that works and a happy wife!

The media could not be loaded. I had a music box shaped like a piano my grandkids broke. I replaced it with this. Super easy and sounds wonderful!

Lovely tune, it's kinda like what I ordered, but not really.
Sounds nothing like Cannon. It's a lovely tune, but it's not Cannon. Pretty bummed since I'm making this as a gift for a friend who loves that tune.
