B39 B-39 7" X 7" skimmer basket

...my ancient 1964 Paddock pool perfectly. I hope the metal rod that serves as a handle is stainless.(I can't really say about "durability", of course, having just put it in service today; but it does seem sturdy).

Issues with a particular tree that drops something I can only describe as something like curvy and short pine needles. They are able to work their way through the holes in the skimmer basket as well as the pump cleanout basket, and clog the pool pump at the impeller, and then found a bunch more sitting in the bottom of the pool filter. So after a google search for "Pool skimmer basket net" and "Seasonal skimmer basket prevention" thinking I couldn't be the only one with the problem, found skimmer basket socks (Basically nylons for pool skimmer baskets (BTW they're not for the pump basket, only the skimmer basket in case anyone should decide to try them). That all being said, we had a basket as shown in photo #2 with the metal bar going across as a handle. The sock had difficulty stretching around, but was sooo close, and I finally got it to go on, later realizing it cracked a corner, which created an opening for the little things to get through. So I needed a new basket as well as one without the bar as we figured out talking with a pool guy who'd seen the socks work on square baskets of the same size, that the bar going across made the sock have to stretch further, and was more than they could handle, putting too much pressure on the sock. So I began searching for a square basket w/o the bar, but still wanted a handle. Saw this one and thought it perfect, as you can see in picture #1, it has a handle only at one corner and should allow for a tight but manageable fit for the sock. I received what we already had, with the bar for across the middle. It comes with the bar unattached, but we didn't want to not have a handle, and with shipping taking longer right now, couldn't afford to leave it with nothing while returning the item and waiting for a new one. Just frustrating when you spend a great deal of time looking to find the item you need, and the item you already own is misrepresented as just what you're looking for. That being said, the basket fits a 7" opening. It's not as thing/strong as our old one, and floats and tips when the pump is off, so I had to put a rock in it. for now. Other than that, I still gave it 3 stars since it's probably a good price for a replacement basket, it does fit the 7" square area needed, and it will work, you just may need to weight it down. Just again not the basket you'll think you are buying

it does not have a loop like the photo. It was a metal bar that goes across the middle. WHich is OK but actually the corner loop makes it easier to remove.

I bought one to replace my broken thin plastic basket. I have only one skimmer around my pool ( not advised but was there when I bought the house) on occasion, it gets leaves in there enough to cause heavy suction. The old basket blew out the bottom. This is much heavier plastic with a metal rod across the top. Fit well and works as it should.

Old school part arrived brand new - exactly the same as the last one I purchased around 30 years ago! Very sturdy, and will last for decades. The one I replaced had long ago lost its handle and its ability to hold the handle (it's plastic and the handle is metal, but it took many, many years before it wore out). This one is the exact same.
