If you are weary of leftovers, this book is for you.
I have tried a few recipes in this book and have even bought two small crockpots to cook them in. I bought the 3 1/2 qt pot and found it works fine for a meal for two. I then purchased a 2 qt pot and use it for most of the desserts. However, I found that some of the recipes aren't for our liking and have opted to use my own versions in smaller portions. Since we are both retired, older and eat less than we used to, these smaller portion recipes fit our lifestyle. The only drawback is that if you are making an entree and a dessert they cook for different times and need to be started on separate schedules. I also found I like a hard copy of this book to lay out on the counter when cooking different things. If my kindle version runs low on the battery, I am out of luck.

Just what I needed and wanted.
This book is perfect for me. *Healthy* food, made with healthy common ingredients. It has all the different categories of food you can slow cook. The recipes look wonderful as is but are also inspirational to make things to your own specific tastes. Also, this book's recipes are for a 3.5 qt which is great for me. CG has a great intro if you are new to slow cooking or want to refresh with her tips including "IMPORTANT RECIPE TIPS." I have read the recipes and I am looking forward to trying many of them. Some recipes are to cook a protein two different ways at the same time in the same crock - v clover. This book has pictures of some dishes and is laid out very nicely.

cooked a large port shoulder the first night in a slow cooker (with recommended sides), then had a recipe for day 2 ...
I bought this book because the author wrote an article for Southern Living. In the article she created three meals (with recipes) from a single meal. i.e. cooked a large port shoulder the first night in a slow cooker (with recommended sides), then had a recipe for day 2 using leftover pork (vietnamese soup) and a third recipe for day 3 (nachos supreme). All of them were quite good. They were very different and you didn't feel like you were eating the same meal night after night. I liked the concept because that's often how families cook and eat. There's always leftovers and you're looking for ways to create multiple meals. So it seemed brilliant to plan ahead for that type of cooking. The article stated these recipes were from this book. Unfortunately the book didn't follow that format (three day meals). It's a perfectly good cook book, but I was more interested in meal suggestions...cooking one meal and creating subsequent meals from the leftovers. So I ended up returning the book. Hopefully you find it more useful.

Really learned a lot more
I've been using my slow cooker for almost a decade now but this book gave me a whole bunch more to explore and do. I didn't know about the bags I could buy to make two meals at once which was cool. The recipes are really good. I got this book at the library first and definitely wanted to keep a copy around permanently.

This is a GREAT book for 2-Person Home
This is amazing...even in hot weather. Tons of great recipes for all sorts of foods and nothing has the many silly froo-froo ingredients I see so much nowadays. It's easy to read and I don't have to do math. Hallelujah! :) I especially love the section in which you make TWO DIFFERENT dishes in the same 6-qt slow cooker. They just have to be similar, so they'll cook the same amount of time. I wish this author (and others) would add in one piece of advice: how to cook smaller servings in the bigger crockpots. We're in a small kitchen with no room to add a 3-qt pot. How does one modify the size for trimmed-down dishes?

Bought this as a gift, wished I could keep it
I bought this as a gift for my sister when she moved into her own apartment. She eats like a bird and I wanted her to be able to make meals for herself and not have two weeks of leftovers. Before I gave it to her I looked through it and even stole some recipes. It is a great cookbook for someone who knows nothing about slow cooking! The baked potato recipe is the best. I work 90 hours week so it's hard to get a dinner that takes a long time to make on the table, but I love baked potatoes. That recipe has saved me so many times and they're delicious!I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to learn to slow cook and is in a small family!

Great if you are used to using American recipes
I haven't actually cooked anything from this book yet. too much of a hassle converting measurements. If I had known it was an American recipe book, I would not have purchased it.

Cautionary Buy
Not the best slow cooker book. I feel that slow cooker recipes should take 5-6 hours not 3-4. My partner would have to come home at lunch to make dinner. The recipes were not amazing enough to justify that. There are better slow cooker recipes and cookbooks out there. We do not have a programmable slow cooker, this may not be as big an issue if you have one at home. I still would not recommend this book however.
