Q: how much weight does this hold

I use the dolly for work and I haven't actually weighted the items that I carry on it. But my best guess would be between 150- 200 lbs.

Q: Can this roll on grass?

The dolly is not intended to roll on the grass.

Q: Does this have "brakes" or a way to keep it from rolling when it's in place? Thanks!

No brakes but it hasn't been an issue when I have used it. I moved a big room sized rug with it. We jammed it under the rug & folded up 1/3 of it on top of the dolly. It didn't move or slide around when we rolled up another 3rd of the rug on top of the 1st third. Then rolled up the last 3rd on top of the other parts and then dragged the rug from my neighbor's driveway & up my driveway. No problems at all even though we were both fairly weak females.

Q: I want to move Sterilite closets. They would be very light when empty. Will they slide off of this thing figuring there is no rim to hold them on?

Sense I don't know exactly how light or how tall or short your closets are my best answer would be... Yes they'll slide off, unless you push them slowly. They don't have any type of grip. But , I do have one solution to thiis problem. That is Velcro with two sticky sides so you can stick one side to the bottom of your closet and the other on top of the Dolly and just let the Velcro work its magic. That's what I did and it works great.
