Product Description 2012 album from the legendary Pop/Rock singer, songwriter and musical chameleon. A street poet and singer of extraordinary versatility, range and resonance, Dion defined Rock 'n' Roll for a generation. He is an artist who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. Now Dion has returned to his deepest roots and influences to release his first Blues album with mostly original songs. His critically acclaimed 2007 Blues album BRONX IN BLUE was nominated for a Grammy. It is this latest album, however, that Dion considers the crown of his career. TANK FULL OF BLUES showcases his inexhaustible creativity and sheer exuberance, qualities that have made his music and his legend endure. Dion's never stopped making music, because people have never stopped listening. The man rocks, and he rocks on... with a tank full of blues in his heart. Review ''If you want to hear a great singer, listen to Dion. His voice takes its color from all palettes. He's never lost it, his genius has never deserted him.'' --Bob Dylan''All hail Dion, the real link between Frank Sinatra and rock 'n' roll. He could've been in either the Rat Pack or the E Street Band if either had been lucky enough to have him.'' --Bruce Springsteen''So while Dion has learned from the past, he doesn't live in it. At 72, he has written new songs for the play [''The Wanderer--The Life And Music of Dion'', coming soon]. He's even coming out with a new album ''Tank Full Of Blues,'' next month. ''I never felt more relevant,'' he said. ''I feel more relevant now than I did in my '20s....'' --New York Times, 12/9/11

THE Rock'n Roll Blues man!
Dion is my man! Always been my man since I can walk and listen to the radio! The first song I truly remember is "Run Around Sue" in 1961 and from that moment, at the age of 4, I have been a loyal fan of Dion Dimucci. The man can do it all, Doo-wop, Rock'n Roll, R&B, Blues! For me Dion is one of the greatest, if not the greatest artist from the 1950's and in American Music. His voice has never changed and is the same from 1957 until now! Can't think of any other artist achieving that....and a great voice it is.Besides a great voice, Dion has proven in his latest blues CD's "Bronx in Blue - 2006" and "Son of Skip James-2007" that he is also a master in blues guitar playing. In fact, Dion has been playing on his 1960's Columbia recordings. Then you think that he has done everything he could do over all these years..but...what now? On 24 January 2012 he brings out a new CD " Tank full of blues" and surprises friend and foe with new written songs at the age of 72!What a great CD it is is. From the 11 songs, 4 are written by Dion himself, 5 in collaboration with Mike Aquilina and only track 5 is a combination of "Still a fool"- Muddy Waters and "Ramblin on my mind"-Robert Johnson.Track 6 is written by John Mooney. The setting is right, small band approach with Dion taking the guitar parts himself, Bass- Bob Guertin, Drums & Percussion- Robert Guertin ( think it is the same guy on Bass!)There is no bad song on this CD, it's great from the beginning to the end and the best song for me on this CD is "Ride's blues(for Robert Johnson).People all over the world....buy this CD, buy this Icon of American music...there is no-one else who deserves it more. Let the world love Dion forever!

Dion's Brilliant Night at the Museum
The last time that I remember thinking about Dion, I must have been wandering the halls of a long forgotten natural history museum watching Wolfman Jack, The Big Bopper and Dion take down a Teradactyl in a dusty diorama that not many had passed for a half century.Considering that the peak of his career in the late 50s/early 60s predates 8-track by a decade, it is still difficult to shake off the dimly lit nostalgia and give him appropriate credit, not only as a pioneer but for making incredible music well into this century. As a sincere act of penance, Dion's recently released Tank Full of Blues has not left my CD player for a week.By no means do I consider myself a blues aficionado (never could really connect with the whole Lightnin' Hopkins, Big Bill Broonzy, southern mythology of it all.) But, I can still respect and applaud meticulous and nuanced guitar work especially, when it's raptured by a voice that rings with the soulfulness of an artist that still has important things left to say.Catalyzed by state-of-the-art production work, Tank Full of Blues is a flat-out great record that just grows with each listen, surrounding you with an unrelenting groove and sizzling atmospherics that are not derailed by a single bad track. Listening to the gospel of Dion, there is absolute truth in the fact that without bad relationships, "blue" would just be another color. So, as I leave my baggage at the door the only reasonable conclusion I can come to is... no matter what era you call home, Dion's latest is going to be among your most inspired music purchases of 2012.Sorry, not available on 8-track.

Another Good Dion Release
Must admit that I am a bit of a Dion fan.I probably have most of his albums. This is up there with the best but I am not sure that I agree with the guy in the notes who rates it as maybe among his three best. Here is Dion at the height of his powers. As the title suggests, it is blues, but it not blues in the sense that its only for blues fans. Both the words & music are not of the usual "pop" shallowness but have real depth and, this guy sings from the heart!Well worth buying.I am sure that you won't be disappointed.

Dion Does The Blues In Style
No one who has followed Dion's career following the big hit days of the 60's will be surprised by this release. Dion has been doing the blues since his Columbia days (he ran some in between the grooves in the Rock and Roll days too, i.e. "I Was Born To Cry" as an example) but part of his Columbia deal was that he could record material he liked, and he did. This man has been recording and creating relevant music for more than fifty years. He has done rock, blues, country, singer/songwriter, gospel, you name it, and all with style and finesse. This material was all written by Dion and the guitar work is Dion---what more do you need? Dion put together a list of blues albums for e-music and he introduced me to a genre I did not know very well. He loves this stuff, he relates to this stuff, and he puts his soul into the music. I'm not a fan of everything he has done (the gospel stuff is not for me) but I have great respect for his commitment to whichever genre he is gracing at the moment. If you have an open mind, this is a great album. If you love the blues, this is a great album, and if you love Dion (from any era), this is a great album. I highly recommend it!

A Blue Flame
Dion's "Tank Full of Blues" rips a blue flame through a set of great tunes. The opening title track smokes with pulsing intensity & Dion's voice soulful and sly, "I got a woman who really wants me & I've got another who wants me gone." "Do You Love Me" sounds like a traditional blues structure, but Dion fully bends it with wit in the lyric and swagger in the vocals, "Do you love me baby, do I see it in your eyes?; Do you love me or are you tryin' to say goodbye?" "You Keep Me Cryin'" has a pulsing backbeat and Dion's sterling guitar work to which he refers in the liner notes, "...the guitar work in my head needed to get out through my own fingers." I think my very favorite track at this point is "My Michelle" which burns with a Chuck Berry bounce & intensity, "You make my heart melt like butter; You make me weak, I start to stutter." This track smokes. Other tracks like "Ride's Blues" and "I'm Ready to Go" are gems on a consistently great set. Enjoy!

Gereifter Vollblutmusiker

Tank Full of Blues
