Unbelievably good at absorbing gut irritants.
I purchased this Bentonite clay almost against my will.First, I am fairly confident I have a Candida infection in my gut. What's unclear is if there is something else in there too. We'll just have to see when the test results come back. What is known is I have a gut infection. And all the products for Candida work for me. Of course the problem with killing anything that resides in your gut is the toxins produced by the die off. First, just having something burst their innards straight into your gut will release something undesirable but worst, most of these critters produce special death toxins which are a defensive mechanism meant to poison whatever killed them. Ahhh! It's working! It felt as if there were something burning in my gut all the time. I started off with activated charcoal which was helpful. But it seemed to increase my diarrhea. The more I took, the more the gut felt better but the worse the diarrhea. Bummer. So I switched to the bentonite clay. I was physically repulsed by the thought of eating this stuff and it took a while. So, first I discovered I have been paying way too much for clay facials. Way. Too. Much. This stuff makes a superb facial mask and if you mix it up warm really comforting too. I like to use a 5:1 ratio of water to clay. to make a thinner, easier to spread warm goo. Finally, I tried it internally as the gut pain was reaching new heights. My first few attempts, I failed to mix it sufficiently getting some lumpiness. Drinking it lumps and all - seemed helpful but didn't live up to the rave reviews. It did work better than the activated charcoal. The next day, I felt almost constipated. After that, I got used to the clay.New procedure - double the amount of water - shake, rest. Repeat until the clay dissolves. Usually, the entire procedure takes about 1- 2 hours and 3 shakes.Much better. The larger volume of water seems to help because it spreads the clay over the entire gut really quickly. About 5-10 minutes after I drank it the pain receded. After this, I rather looked forward to drinking the clay. I even managed to tolerate the grittiness in my mouth and to look forward to it instead of spitting frantically. But the clay is really just a bandaid. Yes, it absorbs toxins. Yes, it helps you form stools. Yes, it helps your gut heal because it relieves the assault on your GI track. But it's not enough. I noticed that my diarrhea resolved but only in the presence of clay. I was in just as much pain the rest of the time. My problem? I'd stopped the damage but I wasn't providing the gut with enough support for healing to occur. So assuming your troubles and mine are the same (yeah, you might want to talk to a doctor about that : )Heal the gut:2-3 gm of glutamate (absorbed by the gut as fuel)Probiotics (Saccharomyces boulardii will fight inflammation in the gut)Fiber (to feed the probiotic - PGX is the best fiber out there - and yes, it made a huge difference for me)Resistant starch (Bobs Red Mill unmodified potato starch) - feeds your probiotics which breaks it down into short-chain fatty acids. Some of these fatty acids can by used directly by the gut for energy and they fight gut inflammation. These starches do NOT raise blood glucose levels.Collagen: the gut needs collagen to heal. You can get collagen by drinking bone broth or by using collagen supplements.Prop up broken digestion (constant gas, bloating, GERD could be a sign of low stomach acid, on the other hand, if your stomach acid is fine, you could give yourself an ulcer with this stuff.)Digestive enzymeHCl betaine

Many Healing Properties
The media could not be loaded. I use this clay for a variety of things such as detox, insect bites, and facial masks. There are claims that Bentonite clay is helpful in detoxification from within, working as a binder to pull out toxins. One of my kids brought home Pinworms that ended up circulating through our house for months. Eventually, we were all able to clear them with the help of Bentonite Clay, PinRx, and Black Walnut and Wormood. The plan was to k;ll/immobilize the parasites with PinRx and Black Walnut, then remove them along with their toxins using a binder (bentonite clay). Even though we are parasite free, I still occasionally like to include it for a week at a time to detox. When I drink it, I add a heaping teaspoon into a full Nutribullet cup of water (I think it’s 24oz). I find this ratio works best for me. If you don’t like the taste, try squeezing fresh lemon into your drink. Immediately after pouring the clay into the water, it forms a clumps (some float and some sink to the bottom). I will soak it for an hour to let the clumps fully dissolve into the water, stirring occasionally. After an hour the clumps will have dissolved, but I do still notice some sediment left at the bottom. I also use this clay to relieve insect bites. We have fire ants and they bite our feet when barefoot in the yard. Sometimes the bites can become extremely swollen, warm to the touch, and itchy. I find that making a thick paste and applying directly to the area instantly cools and soothes the bite. I reapply as often as necessary and it brings down the swelling. Not completely, but significantly less. The clay also works wonderfully for face masks; leaving my skin feeling super exfoliated and smooth. It creates a pulsing feeling when it’s drying. Supposedly, it’s pulling impurities to the surface? After washing and drying my face, I follow up with castor oil or coconut oil to rehydrate the skin. This stuff really is great! I try to take a natural approach to everything as a first line of defense and I’m very happy with the outcomes.!! I would also like to add: When using bentonite clay, DO NOT use any metal utensils, straws, or bowls as this can disrupt the charge of the clay !!

Not for internal use
This is a great product; awesome price with no fillers. It's pure, very fine powder that will dissolve in water if you vigorously mix it while slowly sprinkling it in and then letting it sit for a bit before using it. There is some conflicting information regarding using this internally so I contacted the supplier regarding my question as to why the title states "Food Grade" but they details page and bag says not to ingest. Tried to post a screenshot of our conversation but apparently this goes against Amazons policy for reviews. Here is their response for those also wondering:"As per our team, this product is not ingestible. I'd love to provide the certificate of Analysis to you however we don't have the updated test results at this moment. We've already requested this to our team and we're still waiting for the analysis but based on the previous results, this product passed the heavy metals test. Please be assured that we take customer feedback very seriously and that we are sending this to our product development team."
