Practical Neo4j 1st ed. Edition

I did not find this book helpful for a few reasons.First, the editing is horrendous, not a page goes by without at least one grammatical error which is distracting.Second, even though as another reviewer said, there is a section on .NET it only involves the Neo4jClient which, at least in my opinion, is not very intuitive and departs rather significantly from the Neo4j shell. Lots of Neo4jClient code is included but very little explanation of the code that is offered which is unfortunate in that I haven't found a good reference to Neo4jClient other than the JavaDocs.Finally, I had hoped for more in-depth coverage of data modelling for Neo4j.

The book is quite superficial. It has close to 400 pages, but 330 of those pages show the same demonstration in multiple languages. I expected the book to thoroughly describe the features of a graph database, and demonstrate how the graph data structure has superior performance to relational databases in certain situations. This did not happen. Before you buy this book simply install Neo4j yourself from graphstory.com, the website where most of the content for this book originates.Conflict of interest: None. I disagree with the person who said they already knew everything from online training. In the Neo4j online training they provide an exercise to delete a node - and this book told me in the first few minutes that the reason it didn't work is that I had to delete the relationship first. It also told me how to download .NET and Neo4j for .NET. I'm excited about reading this book. It is the only book I found that included .NET for Neo4j.

Lives up to it's title - a very practical guide to Neo4j. Very thorough.Covers all the bases - from managing your data to developing with Neo4j in each of the main programming languages. Highly recommend!

Didn't offer me more than I had already learned online.
