Tip: Preheat in the Oven
I bought this to add to both my culinary classroom for high school students and my part time job as a culinary instructor working for the city. As a cast iron pan, it's a good pan. As a wok, well, it's not the best tool in the chest. If you want a 'real deal' wok, invest in spun carbon steel. Here's a tip that WILL help and aid in even cooking. Cast iron does not heat evenly on the stovetop. Prior to using this, put it in the oven on high heat to get it warmed up. This will help with the upper walls even having enough heat to stir fry. Otherwise, using it directly from the stovetop you might have very cold walls which will not aid in cooking at all.

Highly Recommend
I have wanted a cast iron wok for a while, but never got one because they seemed too expensive. This one is a great price and, for two people, is the perfect size. Really good quality- we did season it for a few hours to be sure it was ready to cook in, and I've steamed veggies for a few recipes now that have come out great.

Absolute Gem
Hi Folks, let's begin my review of this wok.Pros:*real iron, used magnet test*Superb quality for the value*Not heavy in my opinion, most ppl can lift one handed but it's advisable to use both*One of the best quality per price, has utopia name imprinted under wok*Round interior for that wok cooking functionality and experience but outer is made to fit reg stove top surfaces-no need prop is required to keep it up.*No wobble whatsoever*Fantastic customer satisfaction-i reached out to them for a minor issue and they took care of it wellCons:*Pre-season is total bummer, please scrub with pad and soap before use, then dry throughly with non lint paper towel or microfiber. Then put in 200 degree oven for 15 mins to ensure it's throughly dry, then grease heavily (I use Crisco) n then take it all off. The wok should be warm enough to absorb what it needs and the rest will pool and create unsightly oil marks and leave ur wok sticky-we don't want this. Use a lint free towel again, then put in 300 degree oven for 15 mins, remove and wipe away any excess oil that has pooled (ud be surprised) then crank ur oven to max and leave for 1-2 hrs to bake. Let completely cool before storing away. I hate going through the trouble of returning things
I was so excited when I got the notification that my wok was coming today. But first thing I saw when I opened it was a chip on the side/edge. I hate going through the trouble of returning things, and hoping this chip won't make a difference. I guess I'll hold off on using it and see if I could find the time this week to return it. Totally bummed!

my dad would make amazing Chinese food in a wok like this
This is life changing. Seriously! Growing up, my dad would make amazing Chinese food in a wok like this, only it was huge. Now I have a mini version of this. This easily can cook for a family of four. Even though it comes pre-seasoned, it is best if you season it again. The first few meals stuck to the wok, but after seasoning each time after use, it is getting better. I would recommend this to anyone.

Great size wok for the stove top my glass 12in ...
Great size wok for the stove top my glass 12in lodge top fits it perfectly the finish is rough not as smooth as my lodge cast iron however the price makes it worth the time to do some light sanding to give it more of a pebbled surface with out sanding the surface is like 40 grit sand paper with some scattered pieces larger grit

Perfect for my Weber kettle grill
Very happy with this purchase. I wanted a shallow cast iron pan for use with my Weber charcoal grill. The grill has the cooking grate with the removable insert and this fits perfectly. With the charcoal baskets beneath it for additional support the weight will not be a factor. This is just what I wanted since I can get the charcoal much hotter than the electric stove in my kitchen for proper stir fry. the overall quality is excellent with no excess flashing and a consistent thickness. I highly recommend this, especially with the charcoal grill.Cast Iron Shallow Concave Wok, Black, 12 Inch, Wide handles - by Utopia Kitchen

Made stir fry beef strips and looked amazingly tasty.
I was going to buy the 9" cast iron wok but found this one for about $12 cheaper. This is not too heavy but you do need to use pot holders on both side to move off hot oven. The 5" flat bottom is ample coverage that it heats the whole wok. Made stir fry beef strips and looked amazingly tasty. Clean up was a breeze too. Just wash in hot water (no need for soap) and put back on stove top to dry. I wipe some oil on it anyway. This wok will be the most use from now on.
