Google Nest Thermostat – The Smartest Thermostat I’ve Ever Had
I’m not saying I’ve gone full “smart home,” but this Google Nest Thermostat is pretty much running the show now. It’s sleek, easy to use, and makes adjusting the temperature feel like a futuristic experience.Installation was a breeze (if you can handle basic wiring, you’re good). The app is intuitive and allows you to control the temp from anywhere, which means I never have to come home to a freezing or boiling house again. Plus, the learning feature is surprisingly accurate—within a few days, it was adjusting to my schedule without me lifting a finger. The energy savings are a nice bonus, and I love how it blends seamlessly into my home’s decor. If you’re looking for a thermostat that actually earns its “smart” label, this is it. The only downside? I now feel a little too fancy for my old, non-wifi thermostat.

Control you temp with Alexia!
This is my second Nest and I love them! Easy to install if all the wires are right and setup up to the network and app is very easy. Love the data and control of the thermostat and having it connected to my Echo dot, I'm able to control with voice commands.

Worse than other Nest thermostats in every way
Everything about this thermostat is a downgrade from the other Nest thermostats. I have had every version of the Nest thermostat and this one is the worst.1) The controls are less intuitive. The spinning wheel is what made the Nest thermostat so easy to use and is the reason why the circle shape worked. If you remove the spinning to navigate the thermostat, what is the point of it being round like this? Instead, you have to use a touch-sensitive panel on the side which uses swipe and tap gestures. It sucks.2) The app is a downgrade. You can no longer use the more intuitive Nest app. You have to use the Google Home app with this thermostat which requires more taps and searching through menus for simple control.3) The colors are pretty, but it actually looks cheaper than the Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E. In my opinion, the best looking and most functional model was the E, which they have discontinued for reasons which baffle me.5) I guess when we received it the battery was very low. It's been months of seeing "Very Low Battery" on the screen. Yes, I will replace the battery (a AAA), but it should come with a battery that has some charge. Not a good luck to ship things which, when first powered on, immediately says the battery needs to be replaced. Besides, if it's Low Battery as the screen has indicated for months now... why is it continuing to operate for this long?Sadly, we will be looking to other brands for thermostats once we finally get frustrated enough with this one. Besides, Google sells your personal data and profits from it. Best I avoid supporting that in the future anyways: and so should you.I recommend passing on the Nest Thermostat if you like simplicity, function, and style.

Can see it from anywhere I go!
I have this for our second home. I can control it from three hours away. Turn the heat or A/C onon our way to the house. Can always keep an eye on it from anywhere I go.Love it.

Compatibility Issues using their checker
I checked the compatibility on my laptop using the "google nest compatibility checker" where I said yes to having a jumper wire - it said 4 nest thermostats were compatible. So I ordered the basic one. Excited when it arrived and got started with installation using the app. It said then that my system was not compatible because I have a jumper wire. So which is it Google? Reading in the details it says that jumper wires are very common, which seems to go against their estimate of 85% compatibility. Very disappointed: I used your tool before I bought the product. I have to go find another manufacturer that is compatible - I was trying to stay in the Nest family to minimize conflict issues. I hope there are no issues with returning the item for a refund.Edit: After careful consideration, one of the online instructions mentioned the Nest thermostat uses internal 'jumpers' so just having the one wire is fine. I feel I am covered as the Google compatibility checker told me I was both compatible and not compatible. I installed per instruction only to find the unit had been sent with DEAD BATTERIES, so not too happy about that either. I put new ones in and it was stuck on "Startup". A quick search said to unplug from the wall and replug in - good old "have you rebooted your computer?" Nothing has changed in 30 years of computing.Giving it a half hour to redo its stuff and setting temperature profiles seems to have done the trick. It did think it was 79 deg in the house when it really was 72, but it seems to have gotten over that issue. We will see how it goes.
