Well made, works as expected

Ordered two. Arrived on time and securely packaged in individual boxes. Took a bit of searching to find details of how it is wired and how to program it but there is a lot of online content about this shield. One thing I discovered is that the components are wired differently than I expected. For example, to light up the LEDs, you bring them LOW, not HIGH.Overall, very satisfied with them.

Very useful for quick projects

This board lets you try out several different components without having to wire them up on a breadboard. It makes learning about the components a little easier and reduces the chances of wiring errors that can be difficult for new learners to spot. The more wires you have, the easier it is to make an error and the more difficult it will be to find them. Wiring errors can also be dangerous to your hardware, especially if you inadvertently connect something to power or ground. It's probably not dangerous to you since it's only 5 volts, but you can easily fry an Arduino that way.The only caveat I have is that you need to understand how to read schematic diagrams. There is no documentation with the board but you can find the pinout online. Since it's a hardwired board, you won't be able to assign different components to different pins. This can limit some of the flexibility of your sketches but I think the positives about limiting wiring errors more than compensate for this.Plus, it looks pretty cool! :-)The only thing I wasn't sure about was how to wash the buzzer without getting the rest of the board involved. Also, I have not tried the using the connector for the APC220 Bluetooth Voice Recognition Module.Overall: 4/5 stars because it didn't come with documentation. A link to something online would have been helpful, especially for beginners.Edit after initial post: I corrected the overall stars to 4.

Nice multi functions Arduino shield!

The media could not be loaded.  This review is for multi-function shield. This board has 4 7-segment display, 4 LEDs, 3 push buttons (not including reset button), a buzzer and a adjustable potentiometer. It also provides some pins interface to temperature sensors (LM35 or DS18b20) and wireless module (APC200). Since I don't have these components on my hands, I could not really test them with the shield. The needed documentation can be found online. All you need to do is google "multi-function-shield", it should be easy to download the Arduino library as well. After I installed the library, I wrote a simple Arduino sketch to test the basic functionality of the shield. It serves as the sanity test of this shield. Overall, I like this board as so far it is pretty stable and very easy to use. I highly recommend this board.

Worth it

Good, if you need multi-function in a small item.Worth the price.

Nice board that I use for educational purposes

I use this board extensively for teaching students the basics of designing digital systems in Verilog and building embedded applications. The platform I use is the Cypress PSoC 46, and this "shield" fits very nicely. The only drawback is the lack of good documentation, the schematic drawing is not appealing at all but it has all the required information. One note on the missing current limiting resistor. Yes they should have been on the board - bad HW design! In order to prevent damaging the shift register, please cycle through all LED segments continuously at a refresh rate of at least 50 Hz. This will bring down the average current through the shift registers pins. The easiest to do this is (in SW) use the SPI controller. I don't know about Arduino, but my Cypress PSoC allows me to map any pin to any connector, because the Cortex-M0 core is augmented with a CPLD/FPGA structure that provides the peripherals implementation. In HW (Verilog) a similar approach can be used.

Design not practical

Two of the display pins contact the Arduino USB plug housing when the shield is seated; there is only one analog input available for me to use as three of the analog inputs are being used for digital purposes (buttons); all the other inputs have been arranged for specific additions such that I can't use them, either. I literally use this shield right now for the display while stacked on another shield that gives my access to my other inputs.

Versatility with various sensors and functions..

Love this shield.. Very useful. I use it to detect proximity and distance.. Alerts when object is closing in and changes tones when moving away.. .. Has a temperature and humidity sensor, even an alarm clock, timer and time clock.. Pretty cool. Love that it comes with a buzzer and LEDs too..

Pushbutton switches are faulty.

Board construction appears OK, but running through a set of sketches to check out the board showed that all three switches don't work. Exchanging for the same board from different mfr. works perfectly. There are other sources for the board. I am trying one of them.
