I didn't know what to expect coming into this game, I was really looking for a game that I could play by myself as my family isn't quite as into gaming as I am. That being said, it has both a great solo and multiplayer campaign. The solo rules are nice because it makes it challenging but not too difficult to compete and win.Essentially, you are required to "climb" the tree and then defeat the ultimate boss, the monkey king. To climb a rung of the tree, you have to have the appropriate card or cards that beats the number assigned to the wrung. There are rules based on colors and numbers, but it's not too difficult to climb unless you have traps placed on you.The part that really adds the randomness and challenge is the magic. Having to pull a magic card can really either help or hurt you. And that's enough to make the difference to win or lose the game. Some people would really hate that, but I like it because it guarantees some variety when you play.Rules are pretty simple and it's easy to get going. If you're looking for a fun 2-3 person game or a solo play, this is a nice one. Goes pretty quickly (i'd say 20 minutes or so) and very replayable.

Monkey is simple to learn and lots of fun!Each player gets a card that tells them what to do on their turn, and describes the rules of each Spell Card, so the game play pace doesn't slow. The game allows for some strategy and the Spell Cards keep things interesting. The art is great, too!My favorite part of the game is that we can play with our 5 and 8 year old children. They have so much fun adding up their cards to beat us that they don't even realize they're practicing mental math. We've played with people of all age groups and it's fun for everyone, every time!

Dodge anvils, munch bananas, and take part in monkey fights all the way to the top of the tree. What a fun game from the creators of Gyrating Hamsters. And you can even play it solo - haven't tried that yet, but looking forward to trying it. In a time when we're looking for fun activities to do with our family, this game is a great addition. Doesn't take too long to play and tons of variety. Oh and it has expansions that come with it - so that's awesome too.

Love this game! I love all the variations that change it up. You can play alone, 2 player, or lots of players and it’s all fun. Pretty easy to learn but still plenty of strategy to keep the game interesting. I play a lot of games but this will always be one of my go-tos.

An interactive and original game. no need to worry about dice or coins during this game. few materials needed to play so its easy to learn how to play game. for those wishing to find new games or bored with the old, I recommend this game. interesting cards to look at. COOL MONKEY CARDS. carrying box is small. good game to bring on a family trip or vacation.

My family played a round without traps first to get the hang of the game. You'll need the instruction manual for a round or two, but it's a quick game to learn and each player gets a card that lays out what to do on their turn & descriptions of the spell cards. The whole family enjoyed it!

The game at first was a little confusing at the start but after figuring all the parts out it was rather fun.

I really enjoyed the first Gyrating Hamsters game. Have played it countless times with my kids and grandson. Thought we would give this a try. My grandson loves the characters. I love that math is involved as your character climbs the tree. The spell cards bring unexpected twists and turns. A great game I would recommend for all ages.
