Gold Medal Pets Unicoat Spray Standard Formulation for Dogs, 16 oz.

I first experienced Unicoat when Pet Smart used it as a grooming finishing product more than a decade ago and I was so disappointed when they stopped using it. Fortunately I found it online and most of the time buy it by the gallon. I have a pack of little yorkies that rump all over my yard collecting debris to tangle in their long hair. And let me not forget my little boys who lift their legs to spray a curtain of urine on their long beautiful hair. I take a spray bottle of water and use it to lightly mist the underside of the sticky hair and spray then spray the Unicoat on it as literally as needed. I use a medium round soft tipped brush and gently brush through the hair and lightly pat it down each night before they go to bed. It makes the hair a little more elastic and easier to remove debris or stickiness. It helps with tangles. I don't let tangles become mats. I find that Unicoat is a wonderful product for finishing or daily management of the long beautiful hair. The fresh scent is heavenly and I do the same to lightly go over their coats and especially when combing out their top knot. I always cut the band so the hair does not break and the Unicoat leaves the hair fresh and ready for the next day. It is great in reducing static electricity too. There is never a build up. The next morning I use it to lightly mist their hair to put in a top knot and Unicoat makes this so easy and manageable no matter whether they have course, thick, or thin hair. No other product has given me the versatility and quality finish that Unicoat provides. It is great for after bath and blow drying too. it is not a replacement for a conditioner but reduces the need for a lot of conditioning if used daily. Used daily, I find grooming my yorkies so much more pleasant for them and for me and their hair is always vibrant, elastic, and shiny. .

I have been using this product for a couple years and love it. Its best feature is its detangling power. My rescue collie/border collie used to HATE being brushed, especially her tail. But without frequent brushing she will tangle or matt. Now I spray on unicoat first, and it makes brushing *much* more comfortable for her (and easier for me!) Added with positive training, she no longer snaps at the brush and even gets excited when she sees it. Unicoat is also great for reducing static. We have forced air, and my poor dogs get shocked constantly throughout the winter. But we spray some unicoat on a brush and run it through their coat, and the shocking drastically reduces. This also helps with shedding and flyaway hair. Last, Unicoat is great for between bath touch ups- though reviews and claims that it replaces a bath surprise me. It freshens the fur, gives a nice (but fairly strong) baby powder scent, and helps to clean. It's great for when my Sheltie comes in covered in mud. It helps get the mud off of him *much* better than a wet towel alone will, and in turn keeps the floors and furniture safe. But it's also not going to return his fur to a vibrant white like a bath would- nor should I expect it to. Overall, it is a great product to use BETWEEN baths for touch ups and situational fixes. Used in combination with frequent brushing, it keeps their coat shiny, healthy, less shedding, and smelling nice. It's on my list of the greatest products every pet owner should have, up there with Kongs, no-spill bowls, and martingale collars.

My dog is a maltese which means she has hair instead of fur. It is long and white and in the winter (dry) months we have so much trouble with it being staticky (picture your hair after you come in from the winter weather and remove an acrylic hat). The more on end it is, the more messy it gets as the hair rubs against itself and creates mats. I have tried other products but they either didn't work or I didn't like the way it made her hair feel. One caused her to be itchy. This does just what it says and has a nice baby powder smell (like a baby just after it's bath). It doesn't sit on her hair making it feel heavy and greasy. It help tames the static, comb out the snarls, and freshen up her coat. I also found that if I use it right before her bath, combing through her hair real well and using the spray liberally, that it seems to make the comb out after the bath easier. I don't know what I did without it but I don't intend to ever be without it again.

Love the baby powder scent, but not sure it really de-tangles much. Didn't notice any additional shine and doesn't prevent flyaway static hair on my Cavaliers long ears. Mostly disappointed in the strong spray stream of product rather than a fine spray, but maybe that's so no fine spray gets in the eyes? I do prefer Cowboy Magic for preventing tangles and mats, but don't like the smell or price nearly as much as Unicoat.

Absolutely a must for an owner of a longer haired dog or a double coated breed! I have both a Yorkie and a Black Lab currently but have used this product for at least the last 8-10 yrs!!! By far the best pre-brushing, post-brushing, post grooming product I have ever used!!!! I am so thankful that my Yorkie Breeder turned me on to this product as it makes brushing a breeze, leaves a great scent that lasts for days, and makes the fur super shiney/silky! I love everything from the Gold Medal brand products but this spray is a must along with the conditioner!!!

I use this stuff after giving the dog a bath. It moisturizes the coat even better than conditioner. Keeps their fur from drying out and stops a lot of the itching. It does dry normally and the fur is much softer. I do rub it into the fur and blow dry (not hot). The only thing I don't like is the type of spray bottle they use. It is much easier to apply from a misting type bottle. A misting type bottle also applies it much more evenly.

Absolutely love this stuff, it makes a world of difference. I own a professional private grooming salon, and will always keep this on hand. However, this bottle arrived damaged and leaked all into the bag and soaked the amazon box it came in. I don’t know if this happened during shipping or before it left the seller. But I need this product today and don’t have time to return it and wait and will just pour what’s left into another bottle I have in my shop.
