This item was a life saver. I work from home and have tons of documents that I need to save on our work server. I bought this scanner due to the reasonable price and small size ( I live in an apartment and already have a pretty big printer). I was skeptical. But once installed and ready to go, it worked like a charm. I typically have about 4 batches a day. Each batch can have anywhere from 3 to 200 pages. And I had a months worth of batches by the time I got around to buying this. I got caught up in no time. The software is user friendly. The only thing that was different from the industrial size one in the office is you have separate any batch over 50 sheets. But the software is so easy it makes this a cinch. You just scan the first group, put in the next and click Continue. Rinse and repeat until done. The groups are automatically combined into one pdf and saved to wherever you have them being saved. I would NOT suggest using the 600 dpi as it is slow as hell. I set mine at 300 dpi and it is great for my purposes. Not the best picture quality but definitely good enough. I'd share a picture but my documents are finance related. I'd be fired. LOLSo in the end, the only test left is longevity. I will post an update if this thing craps out on me prematurely. Fingers crossed.

Looked over a lot of info before purchasing, and bought with some trepidation. Reviews by Mac users were all over the place, with some people claiming the scanner was unusable on a Mac. My M1 Mini runs on Sonoma (14.6.1). Software install was annoying, the instructions had one download address but the Canon website had a second, more comprehensive location that had updated software. Additionally, the "CaptureOnTouch" file lacked proper Mac authentication so you will have to futz with the MacOS Privacy & Security settings to get the file to operate.Once loaded, the software had some quirks updating scanning settings; they may not immediately register but appear to eventually. The scanner build is a little rinky dink when compared to my old ScanSnap 510M scanner (RIP).Nevertheless, the Canon scans quickly and produces great results.Have only had the scanner since early October 2024 and will update this review should things go south.

I'M VERY UNSATISFIED WITH THIS PRODUCT. I REALL Y EXPECTED A BETTER PRODUCT FROM CANON.I bought the scanner because I needed legal-sized scanning and it, also, offered duplex scanner 2-sided scanning.This product was originslly designed and manufacured around 2015-1017 according to what little info I could find. The drivers and software were designed for windows 10, and the last drivers and software update was in 2019 according to what I could find online on the Canon site.I am using Windows 11 24H2. I originally had difficulty installing the software, and having Windows 11 recognize the scanner. The scanner would seem to be installed and show up in the devices tab, but would not perform a scan.Eventually after several de-installations and re=installations, I managed to get the scanner and software to perform a scan.However, in subsequent scans after not performing any scans for weeks, the issue repeated itself and evenuinstalling and reinstalling has left the scanner totally useless and just takes up office space. I researched the issue on Canon suport site, and found that this issue is a CHRONIC PROBLEM with this product.This week, I checked with Amazon, and discovered that it was too late for a return as defective equipment. This is my bad, not Amazon's, so, totally on me.Today, I re-boxed the scanner and will try to donate it to someone still using Windows 10 or a Apple iOS. More than likely, I will have just trash or find some way to recycle.This Canon CanoScan Lide 400 Slim Scanner, 7.7" x 14.5" x 0.4" has since been replaced with a product from another reliable company.In closing, IF you buy this Canon Product and experience ti issues I have documented, DON'T WAIT AND RETURN IT FOR A REFUND. Save yourself the grief and expense of experiencing these issues that I have documented and that has been documented by other NEW users of tthe product.
