Lifting 124 Lbs with ease.
I use this to hoist a EMPTY 425 gallon water tank. The tanks is only for emergency water storage and doesn't get used often. Being able to store it in the ceiling is a big plus!I build a frame out of 2x4s to hold the round tank and the lift the whole thing in my garage ceiling. The tank weighs 97Lbs and the frame weighs 27 Lbs for a total of 124 Lbs. Instructions are clear and mounting is easy for an average "handyman". The pin in the shackle that holds the block and tackle cleat to the welded screw eye on the wall is very small and difficult to install when on a ladder. This is the only gripe I have about this product. Otherwise it's perfect. Raising and lowering the device is easily done by one person.

Excellent Product to Lift My Heavy Kayak
This hoist is terrific and is very well designed. It has some very high quality parts and seems to live up to my expectations. I was very careful about the installation to secure all of the component properly to ensure I can use it to it's maximum rated load. I lift a very heavy Hobie Pro Anlger 14 kayak that is probably near the maximum rated load. It does take some effort to lift the kayak but is probably the ideal solution. I should have considered one of the higher rated load hoist but I could imagine that the amount of pulling line would be substantial. This model does and requires a lot of line to run though all of the tackle. When I hoist the kayak to the ceiling in my garage, which is about 13', I have a lot of line to wrap and secure.

Harken Hoister Canoe Hoist 145lbs Load, 16ft
Absolutely the best in its class. Although not an easy install without power tools it was more then worth the small amount of physical effort once completed. I have 10 ft garage ceilings and a 89lbs canoe. I bring my canoe up from the Lake on a two wheeled dolly, also from Amazon. Once the front and rear slings are in place the canoe smoothly and almost effortlessly rides up and stores neatly with dolly, paddles, lifevests, emergency supplies, lighting, anchor, Rods and Reels, etc., so that next time, with the exception of food and drink, I simply lower it and I'm completely packed and ready for a day on the Lake. The extra lift capacity allows me to store the canoe and supplies worry free at ceiling height.

good product
This is an excellent product manufactured by a leading supplier of marine hardware - specifically blocks and sailboat related materials. It works exactly as advertised and makes it easy to hoist items weighing about 100 pounds to store against a garage ceiling. This is my second Harken Hoister. I used the first for my wife's Folbot kayak and the second to store an antique wooden Old Town OTCA canoe which I am restoring. When I want to work on the canoe, I simply move the car, place two saw horses under the canoe, then lower it. When I am done, i simply reverse the process.

Wow, works perfect for storing my 16' kayak!
This is a quality product, it's very easy to install.. I made a few modifications i.e. the 4 open eye hooks I installed straight into the joist to maximize the distance between the ceiling and kayak as I have only a few inches of clearance for my garage door to open. I did span the joist with a 2x6 for the rope guide, it stops it from rubbing the ceiling and puts it about the same height as the 4 blocks. Easy one hand operation to lift or lower on to my truck bed & truck extender. It's an amazing storage solution!

Works really well. After you get the 2x6's installed ...
Works really well. After you get the 2x6's installed on the ceiling, everything else is a breeze. Make sure the line collector and O-screw are as far apart as you want boat to travel off the ground. I used the lift to hold a Laser sailboat.
