A lot of work for a little cupcake
My 6 year-old son asked for this for his birthday. We've used it a few times, and I am not impressed. Although much of it is easy for kids to do themselves, this does not make the nice neat cupcakes that the ad shows. Cupcakes cooked in the microwave generaly do not make a nice, neat, rounded cake that an oven would make, it often makes a big messy blob. Also, to keep the frosting fom melting upon contact, you need to let the cupcake cool for awhile, which takes the fun out of making them. The automatic froster, while good in theory, does not create a perfectly frosted cupcake, it makes an off center mess. Lastly, there are ~10 parts that need to be washed between each cupcake made if you change the frosting or cake type. A lot of work and a lot of money for a so-so cupcake in my opinion.

what a mess
I bought this for my daughter for christmas last year, I have only allowed her to play with it once, it is so messy, the way it is made I don't think there is a way to make the cupcakes with out mix and frosting getting everywhere. there was more frosting on the table and on her than on the cupcakes. The mixes are gritty and taste bad. She has fun using it, but I don't like cleaning up after it!

Products Expired in 2010 but it still shipped out!
This was disgusting. We tried it because we didn't notice the products expired in 2010. Wellll, that's exactly what it tasted like. Waste of time.

My Granddaughter loves to make cupcakes

Not pleased!
Don't bother - the cupcakes taste absolutely horrible, the icing doesn't work right. You'd be better off to buy a cake mix and canned icing and go for the fun of sharing baking with your child without this contraption.

Waste of money
I bought this for my daughter because she had been begging me for one. I wish I had done some homework on it first.Pros:1. The dish that you put the cupcake batter in for the microwave works really well. As promised, the cupcake is completely cooked in 30 seconds.2. The measuring spoon is handy and eliminates digging in drawers for a tiny measure spoon.3. I only paid $9.99 for it, so not a total loss.Cons:Good heavens, where to begin....1. The whole unit that is used to frost the cupcake is a total waste of space and money. Seriously, it's junk. The whole process of filling the tube with frosting, then inserting and clipping it into the main unit takes more time than it does to frost the cupcake.2. The cupcake and frosting mixes taste pretty bad. I wasn't expecting truly gourmet taste, but how hard is it to make it taste as decent as a cheap cake mix??3. Messy, messy, messy! Too much work for one little cupcake. \4. Refills are way, way overpriced. $12.99??? I can buy 12 boxed cake mixes for that price.I believe we will toss out the main piece and just use the pieces for baking the cupcake and frost them manually. Once we run out of cupcake and frosting mixes, the rest of the set is going into the garbage as well. If I would have paid full retail for this, I would have packed it back up and demanded a refund.

Taste is horrible!!
We just received this for Christmas and this is my first review ever so that should give you an idea of my review. The cupcake process needed a little tweaking, mixing the batter, needed more water than recommended. Not a big deal. Cooked fine in the microwave, that part was fun and easy. Now we get to the frosting portion, first let me say that my kids wouldn't eat the cupcake, they asked if they could throw it away, unheard of in my house. I would suggest using your own frosting and cake mix. The frosting was too runny at first and fell right through the hole, so I redid a new mix and barely added water so the frosting was nice and thick, the process of putting the frosting through the tiny container was a pain, the cupcake only gets frosted in the center not the whole thing so then you end up spreading it with a knife so it no longer looks pretty and decorated, which wouldn't have mattered if the final result was a decent tasting cupcake, seriously bad, Do not buy..

Neat idea ! But needs improvements.
This was my 5 year old daughter's main Christmas wish. I didn't read the unpopular reviews until after she asked 3 Santas for this item. So, I purchased it and went into it with very low expectations. As well, I prepared her that the results would not be like that on the commercials. Here's what we found:1)The mixes were rather easy to prepare, consistency of playdough, didn't smell, and tasted more like flour, than anything else.2)The frosting actually created a decent swirl, not a blob ! We were pleasantly surprised !! However, the big downside to the frosting is that the frosting holder only holds enough frosting for one cupcake at a time -UGH!!Improvements needed (Jakks Pacific, please take notes!):1)Skip the whole microwave cupcake making idea and let it just be a frosting machine that holds traditional sized cupcakes and2)Make a larger frosting holder to frost several cucakes without refilling. Also, a good idea to use your own frosting that doesn't taste like flour.Overall, it's a good concept. If you purchase it, go with low expectations. prepare your child for low results, be patient and be willing to adjust your own frosting and cupcakes to work in this machine.Or wait it out until the company makes improvements !
