A dose of patience will catch some fun and a lot of sun
TheΒ ColorBok QC47648T Suncatcher Kit Β is a good activity for those with patience and perseverance. However, this is not an activity for an impatient person (regardless of age) or for those who cannot tolerant imperfections. The frustrating part was a frame that would not lay flat on the cookie sheet. This caused beads to move into the wrong colored areas or under the frame. You should have tweezers on hand to move beads around which can correct some bead mixing. Several beads melted outside of the frame. This isn't a really big deal if you take a blade and trim around the frame. I would not recommend trying to break the beads off. Also, have some ventilation when melting the plastic because it smells like plastic burning. If you are sensitive to these kinds of smells, you might choose to pass on this product. After purchasing and making the first one (even with the frustration we experienced), I did buy more suncatchers to make and bake. I'm going to lay some heavy items on the frame to see if it will help it flatten. I also learned that the center of my cookie sheet interfered with the frame making full contact along all edges.Overall, I give it four stars because it was a fun activity and we liked the finished product even with its bead melting flaws - character right. We learned so much making the first one that the next one should go smoother. Amazon had the price right on the day I purchased and it's fun to see the bead transformation. Plus you have a finished product to hang.

a bit frustrating
When i found these on amazon, I jumped at the chance to get them.. I remember fondly making these with my sister and grandmother when we were young. So, I decided to make these with my daughter. The instructions are the same as back in the 70's and 80's.. place on cookie sheet, fill with the colored beads, bake for 20-25 minutes, then cool.Easy right? but it's really quite maddening!! First off the frame was bent so that it did not lay flat on the cookie sheet. I was able to bend it back so it was mostly flat. You do need good pointy tweezers for this one as there are some small spots.Overall I would say this one isn't great for little kids. My daughter kept bumping into it, lifting it, etc and I kept having to start over. In fact, even doing it myself, I accidentally lifted the frame with my tweezers and had to start over.Once done it looked great; the white part is not actually opaque white; it comes out clear. But, this one has GLITTER sparkles in it. So after all of the work getting this one done, in the end it was worth it. Brought back some good memories and the sparkly unicorn is pretty!

Awesome activity for kids!
We have purchased a bunch of these from our local Hobby Lobby, but we can never seem to find this particular one in stock, so we bought it through Amazon. My 4 year old and I love putting these together and decorating our windows with them. I would recommend leaving them in the oven much longer than the instructions call for. I believe the instructions said 15-20 minutes, but I found best results when they are in the oven for at least 30-40 minutes.

Clear crystals instead of white?
It's very cute and I enjoyed making it, but I thought that the body was supposed to be white and not clear? But its still cute though. Still would have been better with the white crystals like in the picture as advertised

Cute and fun craft project
This craft was fun to do. The instructions suggest using tweezers to fill the smaller spots in the frame, which isn't super kid-friendly in my opinion, but we disregarded those instructions and let our unicorn be a little messy. The parts where the colors bled together were actually kinda pretty. There were a lot more crystals than we needed to complete the unicorn; my niece had fun making other designs to bake sans frame using the extras. The resulting suncatcher was sparkly, which we appreciated.

Unicorn light-catcher
Thank you, just what I wanted for my 6 year-old granddaughter. She will be very pleased with it as I am with the service and packaging. I made the Twelve Days of Christmas tree decorations (which I am on the lookout for again) when I was a bit older than her but this unicorn is very popular just now and the right age-range in ability with a little adult help. She can use it as a stencil before making & baking.

These are really cool. I remember doing them when I was a kid and now I'm making them with my 5 year old. They work great as Christmas Tree ornaments, too.
