SCM Microsystems SCR-243 SCR243 - SMART CARD READER - PC CARD

i'm glad to have bought this item. i no longer have to plug in my SCR when i need to, it's always plugged in now. my PCMCIA slot is once again in use after having upgraded my broadband card a year ago it remained unused. installation was simple. Windows (7) scanned for new hardware, detect SCR and downloaded the drivers for it(internet service required). with no need to plug and unplug, it frees up space on my desk and the need of one of four USB slots(which at times got frustrating). it's also one item less i have to worry about when mobile, now that it stays in my laptop all the time. it's a great item for it's price.

Plug and play on my windows machine, but no longer supported on Linux.

The product was shipped quickly and it works great. I have Windows Vista Business and it self-installed in under 3 minutes. After that, it was immediately available to the ActiveCard Gold software already installed. I now have the added convenience of being able to log on to secure sites without having to lug around a USB reader. Pretty handy. I would definitely recommend this product.

Performing as expected.

I bought this to use in my Toshiba Satellite laptop and was up and running in less than 5 minutes. Great for anyone that needs to use a smart card in their computer. I am a DoD user that uses this on a daily basis.

Fits perfectly in a Toughbook CH-52 and allows you to still close the weatherproof flap

Plug and play into my Panasonic Toughbook. Worked immediately and very reliable.
